Every
book or magazine you open reveals countless
possibilities of color, mood and style. With
so many options, deciding just where to start
can sometimes be the hardest part. |

 |
|
|
When you start any decorating
project, all you really need to do is find something—any
piece of inspiration—that’s a color you love.
(You can also build a Personal
Color Scrapbook, if you want, but
this typically takes a little more time.)
This piece can be anything that you find particularly
attractive or meaningful—it may be something
as small as a decorative pillow, as focal as
a piece of artwork, as personal as a family
heirloom, or as substantial as your carpeting
or flooring.
There is a reason your inspirational piece
appeals to you—it may have sentimental value,
it may represent your own personal idea of beauty,
or perhaps it’s simply your favorite color. |

|
|
 |
|
|
Once you’ve decided on that
special something, whatever it might be, the
task of decorating becomes much easier.
You now have a focus. You can
be certain that the color palette and décor
elements you create around this piece will be
a true reflection of your taste, and what you
like, and not someone else’s ideas. |

To give you quick help in
putting together a color palette, BEHR® has
created ColorSmart™,
a unique interactive program. You can experience
ColorSmart™
by BEHR online, right now.
And if you visit the paint
department of your local Home Depot store, in
a few minutes you can digitally scan the actual
colors of your sample (you can’t do this online). |
|
|
| |
Anything can
be color matched so long as it’s not too big
or bulky, and not so tiny it can’t be accurately
read. As a rule of thumb, the sample should
at least be the size of a quarter and have a
flat edge.
The ColorSmart™ program then
takes your color, and instantly creates a personal
palette for you, with colors that are guaranteed
to complement the color you scanned. You can
even preview your colors on-screen, there and
then, in a sample room or home exterior. |
|
 |
|
|
|
If you wish, you can modify
this palette, then print it out and use it as
a valuable tool for selecting and accurately
matching other colors, fabrics and accessories. |
|
|
|
| |
|
Try the ColorSmart™ by BEHR interactive program to experiment with thousands of different color combinations and see how they look in actual room settings.
