Ask a Color Expert- The Man’s Den

by Deanna Torrez

An inquiry came in from a reader named Mia who is in need of some camp tones for her husbands den. She sure wants his den to feel like a great camp escape!

I want to paint my husband’s den in light-medium camp tones. Should I paint each wall in a different tone to give it a “camp feel”? What are some nice camp neutral colors that I can use?

-Mia

Dear Mia,

We thank you for contacting BEHR for color guidance!

Well since it is a den there is no right or no wrong way to paint, you could paint two walls in one color and other two in a different. Or also do an accent wall too. Here are a few colors that will give it a camp feel: Open Canyon N300-4, Weathered Fossil N310-5, Camping Tent N320-4, Gray Squirrel N320-5, Tanglewood N320-3 and Casual Khaki N300-3.

And here are a few accent colors –

Open Canyon accent: Conifer Green PPU10-19

Tanglewood accent: Mountain Pine PPPU12-19

Camping Tent accent: Heritage Park PPU12-18

As a final note please keep in mind, Due to differences in monitors and technical factors, the colors here cannot be represented with their true qualities. These color samples should only be considered a guide. Please refer to actual swatches for true color. We strongly recommend beginning with an 8 oz. sample container of the color you choose and apply it to a small area on your wall to ensure your satisfaction with the color choice. It is always a good idea to see how the light and ambient conditions affect the color at different points in the day.

Thank you for taking the time to email us and we wish you well in all your future paint projects.

Colorfully Yours,

Deanna
