  1. Step 1

Visit the BEHR Colour Solutions Center at your nearest The Home Depot location.

    TIP:
Before selecting a colour, ask yourself first what kind of look and feel you'd like your space to have. Colour is a major player in creating atmosphere and transforming spaces.
  2. Step 2

Browse through the standard colour chips arranged by colour hue, or take a look at the annual trend card to see what colours are hot this season.

    TIP:
Warm colours, such as members of the red, orange and yellow families will create spaces that are welcoming, comforting and energizing. Cool colours, from the blue, green and purple families, make spaces that feel open, breezy and relaxing.
  3. Step 3

If you're unsure about colour pairings, browse the BEHR colour cards that offer bright ideas on colour combinations.

  4. Step 4

You can also visit behr.com and browse Behr's massive colour selection from the comfort of your home.

    TIP:
Once you've chosen your colour, select your colour's intensity level next. A colour intensity is how bright or muted it is. Next, choose the colour's lightness level. Light colours open up rooms and dark colours will make your space feel more intimate and cozy.
  5. Step 5

Purchase paint samples and paint a swatch of colour on your wall before you make your final decision. View your selected colour options in the room you will be painting.

    TIP:
Observe how the colour changes throughout the day and night. It may be necessary to alter lightness or intensity level of the colour to best fit your space.
