  4. Let Behr Paint guide you through the process of painting your ceiling by following our step by step how to guides. Everything you need to know to get the job done right can be found there.

  5. To promote adhesion and durability of your topcoat, use a PREMIUM PLUS® primer.
Not interested in applying a primer? Consider using PREMIUM PLUS ULTRA® Stain-Blocking Ceiling Paint. It's a paint and primer in one.

  6. Properly load an angled brush as detailed on "How to Load a Brush and Roller"Instruction.

  7. Work continuously around the perimeter of the room, and cut in (paint) a three- to four-inch wide area at the corners of your ceiling with a paint brush.  As you go, smooth out the cut-in area by lightly brushing the tip of the bristles over the newly painted area to create a feathered edge.

  8. Pour paint into a paint tray and work your roller into the tray until it is fully loaded with paint. Use a ⅜”–½” roller cover for a light texture and a ½”–1” roller cover for a heavier texture.  Place a loaded roller in the corner of the room, approximately three to four inches away from the area you just cut in.

  9. Roll in a straight line in one direction toward the opposite side of the room.  Continue to roll in parallel lines taking care to not roll directly over your head; instead roll in a direction toward yourself.  Reload the roller when necessary.

  10. Roll the first coat in this straight-line pattern, working quickly and continuously until the entire surface is coated.  Do not roll in a "W" or a "V" pattern on the ceiling.

  11. Allow the first coat to dry completely before determining whether a second coat is necessary.

  12. If a second coat is needed, apply the additional coat all in one direction, perpendicular to the first coat, working quickly and continuously until the entire surface is coated.
