  4. Let Behr Paints and Faux Finishes show you how to use Premium Plus With Style Faux Glaze to create a smooth leather finish on your walls. Let the how to guide from the experts at Behr show you how to achieve the exact look you want in your home.

  5. A Faux Finish is easily created by applying one or more colored glazes over a new or existing base color. Interested in using your existing surface color as the base color? No problem, as long as it is in good condition. If you’re choosing a new base color, we recommend PREMIUM PLUS ULTRA® or PREMIUM PLUS® Interior Paint in a Eggshell, Satin, or Semi-Gloss Enamel sheen.

  6. To prepare your topcoat glaze color, pour 1 part PREMIUM PLUS ULTRA® or PREMIUM PLUS® paint and 4 parts FAUX GLAZE into a bucket and mix the contents thoroughly. For a more see-through or transparent look, add extra faux glaze to the mixture. For a denser or more opaque glaze color, add more paint to the mixture. The mixture will generally cover approximately 400 sq. ft.

TIP: Mix the entire quantity of glazing color needed for the project before you start painting. Combining the contents produces uniformity in color. This intermixing is called “boxing.”

  7. Pour your color glaze mixture into a paint tray and work a 6” mini roller into the glaze until it is fully loaded. To remove excess glaze, roll the tool on the ribbed area of the paint tray.

TIP: Test your technique and color combinations on a practice board before you begin the project.

  8. Cut plastic sheeting into squares that are slightly smaller than 3' x 3'. Starting at a top corner of your project, roll the colored glaze onto a 3’ x 3’ section. Allow the glaze to set for 1 to 2 minutes.

  9. Scrunch up the plastic in your hands. Then, stretch it out and lay it gently over the wet colored glaze. Leave a wet edge.

  10. Using a BELLAGIO FAUX Brush, very softly brush over the plastic. Leave some wrinkles and overlapping. Avoid pressing with your fingers as this leaves finger marks.

  11. Leaving the plastic sheet in place, roll the colored glaze onto another section. Overlap it with the wet edge of the previous section. Apply a scrunched and stretched sheet of plastic onto this new wet area and repeat the process.

  12. Once the entire surface is covered, carefully peel away each of the plastic sheets to reveal the design.

  13. Repeat the process until the project is complete.
