Ask Erika: Jessica’s Open Floor Plan

by Erika Woelfel

Colorfully, Behr reader Jessica asked us about painting her home’s interior. Read Erika’s advice below!

Hi Erika,

Our new house has an open-concept floor plan, which is making picking colors tough! The main space is tan, and the three bedrooms on the end are gray (one with Swiss Coffee stripes).

Is there a darker gray with brown undertones you can recommend to tie it all together?

Thank you,

Hi Jessica,

Thank you for your interest in BEHR paint products!

Based on the information that you have provided to me, I have found two different gray paint colors that you may want to consider to coordinate with you tan/gray combination.  They are Ashwood 720D-4 and Fashion Gray PPU18-19.

Colorfully yours,

    Hello Erika,

please, i would like to ask you, i just painted my apartment of ultra pure white, but i need one or two more color for one wall and as small hall, my question is if i can use those two colors ashwood 720-4 , and fashion gray PPU18-15 for my apartment, can those color be with ultra pure white, my apartment is in the back side of the building and i don’t have too much daylight. i was looking on the book for flannel gray N520-3 with what other color can i match this color?

please, any information i will appreciate.

      Hello Julio,

You can do Ashwood and Fashion Gray. Although Flannel Gray is a bit lighter which may work better since you do not get enough daylight. Another color that will work with Flannel Gray would be Classic Silver PPU18-11, or Meteor Shower N450-3.

      Colorfully Yours,
