Star Spangled Colors

by Erika Woelfel

Independence Day will be celebrated with picnics, beach outings, back yard cook-outs and fireworks as it always has, despite the fact it falls in the middle of the week this year!

Traditional 4th of July party regalia has always been about the stars and stripes, and the tried and true palette of red, white and blue. Updates to the palette come in grassy green and fun-in-the-sun yellow. Orange adds an element of fresh momentum.

This year we’ve seen the patriotic theme going retro with ‘50s diner looks: checkered napkins and tablecloths, classic soda bottles, wooden fruit crates and metallic buckets. Look for polka dots to make a playful appearance as well. Bright pops of citrus color are charming when used on grilling tools and patio furniture. For nighttime gatherings, don’t forget to hang the party lights! They create instant charm and ambiance when the sun goes down. Paper globes come in all colors and string lights come in all shapes and designs imaginable for backyard fun.

Happy Fourth of July everyone!

Colorfully Yours,

Erika
