Proper surface preparation is required.

  • All surfaces must be clean, sound, dry, and free of any dirt, oil, and grease.

For Uncoated Concrete or Masonry:

  • Allow new surfaces to cure 30 days.
  • Clean and etch surface using a product such as a muriatic acid etcher (read and follow all manufacturer's label directions) to achieve a textured profile similar to 150 grit sandpaper.

For Previously Coated Surfaces:

  • For a painted surface in sound condition, use a product to clean and prepare the surface.
  • If the coating is failing or peeling, use a paint stripper to remove the old coating or scrape/sand down to a sound concrete surface.
  • Scuff sand glossy surfaces.
  • Clean and spot etch any exposed concrete.
  • Remove all dust with a damp cloth, allow to dry.

  • DO NOT THIN. Intermix all cans of the same product to ensure color uniformity.
  • Stir before and occasionally during application.
  • Use product when air and surface temperatures are between 50-90° F.
  • Apply to dry concrete. Do not apply if rain or heavy dew is expected within 24 hours.
  • Do not apply in direct sunlight.
  • Tape off any adjacent areas and apply to the edges using a nylon/polyester brush.
  • For hairline cracks up to 1/8”, completely fill in with coating using a brush and allow to dry completely prior to roller application.
  • Apply an even first coat using a 1/4" adhesive roller cover or nylon/polyester brush.
  • NOTE: The first coat will act as the base coat and it will not completely cover the surface by design. Avoid over application on the first coat.
  • Apply from a roller tray or pour directly from the container
  • NOTE: Pouring can help spread the coating quickly however it may reduce the overall spread rate.
  • Work in areas approximately 3’ x 3’.
  • Pour a circular (pancake style) shape with a 10” diameter of the working area.
  • Spread from the center outwards, rolling in multiple directions to evenly distribute.
  • For long, narrow areas, pour a strip about 3”-5” across the surface.
  • Apply moderate pressure to the roller to push the coating outwards and even out the surface.
  • Work quickly and overlap the previously coated areas to ensure full coverage.
  • Avoid regular patterns and knock down hard edges using the roller.
  • Allow first coat to dry then apply second coat in the same method as the first coat.
  • While two coats are necessary, additional coats may help hide previous surface imperfections or cover over contrasting colors.
  • For large projects, consider using a texture sprayer with a 4mm tip.
  • Spray in 4’ x 4’ sections and back roll with ¼” adhesive roller cover.

  • The floor may be subjected to light foot traffic after 24 hours.

BEHR PREMIUM ® Granite Grip ™ is rated 3.6 out of 5 by 200.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Loved it We purchased this for our garage floor as we wanted to protect our floor and considered the grip was a plus for winter time. I was nervous about the color and application process at first but it ended up easier then expected! The color was great also! Only learning curve was that some spots looked patchy after the first spread and more “sandy” then others. It definitely evened our after the second coat. So far we love it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works Great! I bought this product a year ago to try to save my porch!! I live in an area where it snows and often gets below 0° but also can get well over 100° in the summer and my porch takes a beating!! I sealed all the bigger cracks, swept off the debris and then applied 2 coats of Granite Grip...hoping it would work!?! It did!! The cracks are gone - even a large part of the porch that broke off, that had to be repaired separately, has survived the winter and now our record-breaking summer!! We are going to use this product again...we have more damaged concrete to fix!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love the look! I bought Granite Grip about a month ago to coat my front sun porch. It looks great! I picked the tan color and it has a very warm and inviting feel with dare I say it - the look of carpet! Wonderful product! Be careful to do it exactly as instructed. I used 4 thin coats to get good coverage but I was covering a black tarred undercoating. So many uses besides the garage!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I love the look! I just did my sister's patio while she was on vacation, and she told me she drove slowly up the driveway to admire the look of gray granite grip. She said it's beautiful!! I hooked her in, now she wants to do her carport! I live this stuff.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 3 months later it still looks fantastic! I etched concrete as needed after power washing off old crappy paint. Applied two coats with the advised adhesive roller and brush where needed and it turned out great! Has held up so far to the elements and weather 3 months later.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Durable/Great Solution I put down this paint over a 45-year old patio slab four years ago. Because of how my yard slopes, about half the slab gets water runoff in heavy rains. As a result, I have to scrub it with soap and a broom to clean it. I was very concerned about how well this paint would hold up to all that water and scrubbing over time. The answer was GREAT! I can even use about 100 PSI water pressure to clean it. The key is proper surface preparation. I put on more coats than they recommend, and I believe that is part of why it is lasting so well.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Beware, you'll need more than you know! I used this to cover old cement in the backyard and bought two 5 gallon Buckets, but it was stretched thin. Now I'm going to have to buy another 3 gallons or so because it has started to peel away in the thin spots. It's a great look, was a great look, now it's pretty horrible looking and I'm having a hard time finding more of the tan color. Very expensive and distressing!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Nothing like expected. I recently purchased Granite Grip in the tan color to redo the porches on my home. It was a warm and dry day; sanded the old paint from the porch; purchased the adhesive roller and had the product shaken by the store before returning home - we followed ALL the directions. The first issue was upon opening the can to find the color decidedly GREY and not the TAN of the label. "Maybe it dries to a tan color", and "maybe the second coat will be better", we reasoned as we've used MANY gallons of Behr paint over the years. I proceeded to roll on the product and it was an absolute pain in the backside to work with. It would barely load onto the roller, and the coverage was exceedingly thin and patchy. Painting the edges of the project area with a brush was only better in the sense that more product caked on unevenly. The "color" never developed into anything resembling tan as it dried. After several hours, and much discussion, we decided not to proceed further with the Granite Grip paint as it wasn't providing the look or texture I wanted for my porches. So we ended up resanding the area we had already done and are now redoing the project with Behr Porch & Patio Textured Low Lustre paint.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product I bought this for my driveway because it was slippery when it got wet. We were afraid someone would slip and fall. After using this on our driveway is was unbelievable how if gripped your feet as you walked on it. No slip even after it got wet. And it looked great. We liked it so much we did our side walk leading to our front door and our entire back yard porch and outside patio. Anyone looking to have a safe great looking area should look no further than using granite grip. 10 out of 10 stars

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Pour and spread Beautiful results if you pour a small amount and spread with a spatula or adhesive roller. Use paint brush for edges. It must be mixed very well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Makes my deck look brand new We did it ourselves! Started as pool replaster ended up entire backyard makeover. We applied 1600sq ft of old cracked concrete to look brand new! This product takes a bit of elbow grease and we rolled it on in the cool morning. We love love the awesome result!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Makes Everything Look New After extensive research and talking to the local Behr Rep. I decided to coat our entire pool deck and patio with GG, using about 50 gallons. It turned out fantastic and after two years I recoated it with one more coat and it looks like new again. Like many others I ended up using three coats to begin with, most of the pool deck was constructed in 1962 and it acts like a sponge, so to get a nice appearance, it needed three coats, was worth the effort. Key is definitely in the prep, if you skimp on this, it will not be pretty. I am using GG to recoat my garage floor now and looking forward to the nice look it will provide.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Granite Grip on my Patio I first did my patio with Granit Grip almost 6 years ago and I didn't really begin to see real wear on it until last year. When I first covered the patio with Granit Grip it took 2 cans. This year I first touched up the bad spots and then re-did the full patio and it only took 1 can. I love this product. I had been painting my patio for years and it just didn't hold up. I just wish the product cam in a other colors. Or is it possible to add color to the gray to make the color slightly different, but not impact the quality of the Granit Grip.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Conflicted As the title indicates I'm not entirely sure of what I think of this product, as there are both pro's and con's pertaining to my experience. Some of the pro's would be the color selection, the ease of spreadability, the amount of technical information available to assist, as well as the look & feel of the surface afterwards; however, the con's are seemingly one and the same. Yes, the color selection is great, but it tends to be inconsistent even steering regularly and mixing cans over large surfaces. Yes, the product is easy to spread, but at the same time because of it's easy to spread leveling it out to achieve an even depth and consistency can be quite hard to navigate which requires more and more product to be needed in effort to hopefully level it out. The technical information available is great, but there is very little practical application information that accurately prepares you for having to do a driveway out of direct sun light (i.e. at dawn/dusk and/or overnight; making things increasingly difficult). And, lastly, yes the final results are good, if I getting there has been a challenge. In truth I'm still not quite where I'd like to be with the results. I'm now at 10 cans on a 2 car driveway... Hopefully in the end the outcome justifies the price otherwise it would be more advantageous to just have ripped it out and poured colored concrete (which is easier to evenly surface to boot). Fingers crossed though.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Bubbles and peels This over priced product has bubbled from the beginning and now is peeling making our covered porch look worse than it did before the application. We followed all instructions for prep and even asked 2 coats which also did not cover provide great coverage.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Bubbles Bubbles after each rain. Both inside screen porch and outside on patio. After drying, and bubbles are left untouched, flooring returns to almost new looking. Leaves no traces of bubbles. Until next rain. Have suggested this product to my brother in hopes that he has better luck.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great look, but not for beginner! We bought this to refresh our aging driveway and front porch of our 15 year old home. We did all the prep according to the instructions and videos. We soon found the the coverage was not what was advertised after using about twice the amount of product, I called the customer support number and asked for help. I got some suggestions and confirmed that the product did not always live up to the coverage claim. They offered and sent me out some additional product at N/C to help finish the project and now I have a Great Looking Driveway and Porch! I know my neighbors and going to be looking to do something with their soiled and stained covered driveways now!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for Patio I bought this almost a year ago and am very happy with the outcome. Way better than the bare concrete floors and definitely a better choice than the concrete stains as it hides the imperfections better. Will certainly revolve after a couple years to try other colors.
