Tips For Ensuring Success with DeckOver®

See product label or website for required surface prep and application steps.
Proper preparation and application are key to achieving a beautiful deck with long-lasting results. Here are some tips to help you achieve success with your DeckOver project.

Use the Proper Tools

Best results are achieved when you use the recommended tools.

  • ½″ nap roller is recommended; a brush or ¼″ nap roller can also be used for a smoother finish
  • ¾″ nap roller can be used but dry time will be longer
  • Airless sprayer only recommended for experienced users
  • No honeycomb rollers
Detailed Application Tips

One gallon of DECKOVER can cover up to 75 Sq. Ft. with 2 Coats. It is strongly recommended to fill cracks, nail holes and accessible board ends prior to applying the first coat.
Estimated project time:.

  • Day 1 - Prep Day – Properly clean the wood or concrete surface according to label instructions. Wait 24 hours for surface to completely dry.
  • Day 2 - Application Day:
  • Fill in cracks - Let dry for 4-6 hours
  • Apply 1st Coat - Let dry for 4-6 hours
  • Apply 2nd Coat - Let dry for 4-6 hours

Clean. Conceal. Cover.

A Clean and Sound Surface is Required.

Your deck surface must be clean and sound. Properly prepare your deck before application.

  • Remove dirt, oil, grease or any other debris or stain on the surface
  • Replace rotting or unstable boards
  • Remove loose wood fibers or wood fuzz
  • Remove peeling paint/coating
Your Surface Must be Completely Dry.

Apply DeckOver only on a completely dry surface. After cleaning with water and appropriate cleaning products, allow a minimum of 24 hours of dry time

  • If you live in a high-moisture region, allow for a longer dry time
  • If weather conditions are damp, allow for a longer dry time
  • Do not apply in direct sunlight.
  • If rain is predicted within 24 hours, don't apply
  • Do not apply under foggy, high-moisture, or cool temperature conditions
Where You Apply is Important.

Apply DeckOver on these recommended surfaces:

  • Properly prepared wood and composite surfaces (such as decks and railings)
