How to Repair a Hole on a Concrete Surface

Skill:  Novice DIY'er

Repair holes in your concrete surfaces before you refresh your home with a new coat of paint!

For Best Results:

Refer to our how-to for helpful steps on repairing holes.

  1. Step 1

Remove any loose debris from the hole. Wipe the area clean with a water-dampened rag.

Use a 5-in-1 painter's tool to remove hard-to-reach debris. This will allow the concrete patching material to bond tightly to the damaged area.
  2. Step 2

Using a putty knife, spread a thin layer of concrete patching material into the hole.

To create an even surface, always smooth out (feather) the patching material 1"-2" beyond the repaired area.
  3. Step 3

Using a wet sponge, blend the repaired area into the existing surface.

  4. Step 4

    Allow the area to dry.
