Step-by-step application process
Step 1: Give your tombstone a concrete effect
After priming your wood tombstone, spray light layers of BEHR PREMIUM® Concrete Spray Paint 8-12” away to add a textured, concrete-like finish.
Step 2: Position the stencil
Center the stencil on your tombstone and tape down the edges. Cover the rest of the tombstone with masking paper to block overspray.
Step 3: Begin spraying the stencil
In light, even passes, spray black paint over the stencil to fill in the lettering. Remove the stencil, tape and masking papers before the spray paint dries.
Step 4: Add additional designs to the tombstone
Use Halloween graphic stencils, such as a pumpkin, in festive colors like BEHR PREMIUM® Spray Paint in Citrus Orange to add extra flair to your project.
Step 5: Refresh older décor pieces
Spray a faux pumpkin using BEHR PREMIUM® Spray Paint in White Matte for a lighter, neutral pumpkin to mix into your display.
Spray a skull prop using BEHR PREMIUM® Spray Paint in Black Matte to add a bold, dramatic accent to your display.
Tip: Work in thin, even coats and let each one dry before adding the next — it keeps stencil lines sharp and prevents drips.
