Where Not to UseBlank space if empty.

DO NOT use on vertical surfaces or areas subject to hydrostatic pressure. NOT for industrial use or areas subject to forklifts.

Preparation†Blank space if empty.

Proper surface preparation is required.

  • All surfaces must be clean, sound, dry and free of any dirt, oil and grease.

For Uncoated Concrete or Masonry:

  • Allow new surfaces to cure 30 days.
  • Clean and etch surface using a product such as a muriatic acid etcher (read and follow all manufacturer's label directions) to achieve a textured profile similar to 150 grit sandpaper.

For Previously Coated Surfaces:

  • For a painted surface in sound condition, use a product to clean and prepare the surface.
  • If the coating is failing or peeling, use a paint stripper to remove old coating or scrape/sand down to a sound concrete surface.
  • Scuff sand glossy surfaces.
  • Clean and spot etch any exposed concrete.
  • Remove all dust with a damp cloth, allow to dry.
ApplicationBlank space if empty.
  • DO NOT THIN.
  • Intermix all cans of same product to ensure color uniformity.  Stir before applying.
  • Use product when air and surface temperatures are between 50-90° F.
  • Do not apply in direct sunlight.
  • For hairline cracks up to 1/8", completely fill in with coating using a nylon/polyester brush and allow to dry completely prior to roller application.
  • Do not pour product directly on surface; always use a roller tray.
  • Apply a first coat using a 1/4" Adhesive Roller Cover or nylon/polyester brush.
    • NOTE: The first coat will act as the base coat and it will not completely cover the surface by design.
  • Avoid over application on the first coat.
  • Apply in 4' x 4' sections.
  • Begin with the roller in the center of the section and roll outwards in random directions.
  • Avoid regular patterns and knock down hard edges using the roller.
  • Allow first coat to dry then apply second coat in the same method as the first coat.
  • While two coats are necessary, additional coats may help hide previous surface imperfections or cover over dark colors.
  • For large projects, consider using a texture sprayer with a 4mm tip. Spray in 4' x 4' sections and back roll with an adhesive roller cover.
  • An annual touch-up may be required in areas subject to tire traffic.
Dry TimeBlank space if empty.
  • Longer dry time required in cooler temperatures and in higher humidity.
  • The floor may be subjected to light foot traffic after 24 hours.
  • Allow 72 hours before subjecting surface to automotive tires, heavy foot traffic or repositioning furniture.
  • Premature heavy traffic will cause paint failure requiring spot recoating.
Clean UpBlank space if empty.
  • Soap & water clean-up.
  • Wait at least 30 days before rinsing or cleaning.
  • Use a mild detergent as needed.
  • Abrasive cleaners and pressure-washers should be used carefully to avoid premature coating failure.
DisposalBlank space if empty.
  • Properly dispose of all soiled rags.
  • To recycle or properly dispose of product in your community, contact your household refuse collection service.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great coverage! My wife and I pulled up the old carpet on our patio, cleaned up the concrete and put down the Granite Grip. Took about a week working after our regular jobs and the weekend. The prep took the longest. The old carpet glue did not want to come off! We followed the instructions on the can and watched a few videos on line. And now it looks and feels great!! I'll let you know how it holds up!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic paint ! Just finished the driveway and I’m totally amazed with results. I Used a drill paddle to ensure mixture stayed well mixed during application. So far so good.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So impressed I bought this paint to coat the bottom of a shower I was installing to use while I was remodeling our master bathroom, thinking it would have a little texture and if it lasted the 3 months I needed the temporary shower for, I’d be happy. One, it looks and feels like nature stone-it’s beautiful. Two, six months later as I am Still using the shower because, you know, remodeling schedules, it still looks like the day I put it on. I’ve done a lot of painting and Behr is always my first choice but they really raises the bar with this stuff.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from disappointing performance I covered a 10' x 20' patio with the product, wanting a nicer look than plain concrete, and I got the look I wanted. The problem is that every time the patio gets water on it, the water leaves a stain on the product and then I have to hand scrub the stain to remove it. I was not expecting this and it's been very aggravating.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Do not purchase this product - its a disaster We purchased 10 gallons of this product to paint a pool deck. In the past we have used Behr patio paint and found it to be successful. This product is awful. After 10 gallons the deck still is not covered. We used a paint sprayer following every direction exactly as stated. We are struggling to decide if we should spend another $250 to try and get it covered or just purchase the patio paint and cover it for less money.. We flip houses and paint pool decks, garage floors and driveways using Behr products. We are not professional painters but we certainly know how to paint and follow directions. I would not recommend this product unless you like to spend money foolishly. I cannot comment on the final look as we are on day 3, patio is still not covered and we are trying to decide how much money we want to spend to finish the job.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Expensive with disappointing results I bought 10 gallons at Home Depot, which was enough to cover my patio. I got halfway done with the first five gallons, and when I started on the second half, the colors do not match. It is a noticeable difference. Disappointed! What a quick way to make more money. Or to take money. There is no lot number to match colors so you would think all color should be the same. Now, I have to drive another 100 miles to my nearest Home Depot, to spend another 500.00 and try to match it or go to my hometown Lowe’s and spend money to paint over it. Very disappointed.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Granite Grip Tan This paint is really hard to get even coverage where you may need to do 3 or even 4 coats to fill in the splotchy bare spots well with a roller or brush. I always see the customer service saying people should spray this paint on so maybe that's how they should market this product. :-/ I am just happy it was a very small project I used this product on and only used a gallon of this paint.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Find In Paint Product I first purchased this product a few months ago. Used it on a commercial concrete floor of about 1700 square feet. It worked so well, I used it recently on a residential basement floor. No longer worry about slip and fall claims. I am considering use on outdoor steps as well. Thank You Guys for a really great product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Concrete countertop I built an out door kitchen and poured a concrete countertop because granite was just too expense. I purchased this product to put on my concrete countertop to give me the granite look. I cannot believe how well it came out! The countertop looks amazing! I was skeptical when I purchase it but and am very happy to say that it worked well beyond my expectations.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Uneven coverage after 4 coats. I have already spent $200 (4 gal cans), plus rollers, brushes and cleaning materials. I had the tan paint tinted and the coverage is so blotchy (with grey color with the tan) and uneven—could not correct after 4 coats. I did my small patio (10x 9) to see if I liked the color and coverage. I was hoping to complete this project on my large patio (21 x 21 1/2 ft). I followed the instructions , but am so unhappy with the outcome. I really wanted to love it because as an elderly person, the grip factor was the biggest draw.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worked great, will continue to buy These other people writing bad reviews obviously didn’t follow directions properly. Yes it does suck the first coat, but the second coat works wonders if done properly. I took a brush and laid it in pretty thick then rolled it smooth. Very happy with the results. The picture is just after I touched up a few spots so it was still wet.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Do NOT Cover Garage I was going to epoxy my garage floor, then got talked into this by a staff member at home depot. I use my garage also as a workshop and park both my wife's and my car in the garage. First of all, to cover a 500 sq foot garage I've spent about $700.00 dollars on product and it took 5 coats to apply properly. I kept having to go back to HD to get more product. Eventually, the only way to apply evenly was to use a sprayer with a hopper. Then after about a month, trying to sweep all the dirt out of the garage to keep it clean is impossible cause grip is correct, the floor grabs everything it can. Water stains just show up terribly, and tire marks are the absolute worst. Idk how to get rid of these stains so the floor looks clean. We've had this applied now for over a year, and my wife and I just spent an hour trying to clean the floor vacuuming and brushing and still looks terrible. I regret ever putting this product on my garage floor.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Outstanding when done correctly Our drive was poured 6 yrs ago. We cleaned and power washed to prep surface correctly. Zep makes a good cleaner for concrete. We have applied over 25 gallons for our basketball court. This stuff is amazing. You get what you pay for. I highly recommend Granite Grip for athletic surfaces on concrete. Just follow the label.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Did not cover! I bought this from Home Depot to do my large concrete patio. I used three gallons to do just a small area and after the second coat it still didn’t cover fully. Was difficult to spread and used way too much product. At this point I have to finish it. Very disappointed. I followed all the prep rules don’t know why this did not work.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Ok Not one can was the same color. I started out with one gallons then bought 2 five gallons. Not matter how many coats you use you can see streaks and now I have slightly different colors. Not sure how to fix it at this point. Up close it looks nice just when it rains you can see all the different marks

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Looks nice when done but takes 2x for coverage Did directions indicate that for 220 ft.² I should need no more than 5 gallons to complete this job. It took me 11 gallons to complete my garage floor. Two coats was not nearly enough and add a minimum I needed three coats and sometimes more for adequate coverage. I lost track but I Think I have invested $600 so far. Looks nice but if I knew it would’ve cost as much I would not have done this. I also would not recommend using a roller. We ended up using a texture gun and back rolled it after we were done.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Terrible coverage When it says it covers 2 coats for 50 sq ft, it’s a lie. It covered maybe 1 coat for 25sq ft space. I’m invested in it now so I will need to buy many more gallons to complete my area. This is very disappointing as this product isn’t cheap! Wish I could get a refund here as I’m going to need to spend $150 more to get the coverage for 50 sq feet.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Horrible - DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY This stuff is a terrible product both workability and finished product wise. Terrible waste of time and money buying and installing this. Did a basement floor, did all the prep properly, 3 coats later - still get all kinds of bleedthrough, been working in the construction industry for 45 years .... this is some of the worst stuff I have ever used.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Terrible product We thought this product would work nicely on our indoor patio. We followed directions n applied as per directions. We had to buy 2 gallons just to cover the area. It comes out spotty... paint but no grip. I am not sure if another coat would make a difference. I don’t recommend this product. I think just painting the concrete would look a lot better ... You can not be sure if the color will come out as the sample.... Very unprofessional product.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not what was expected Just finished applying Behr Granite Grip to my screen porch concrete floor. Did the preparation as indicated on the instructions. Also purchased the recommend rollers. The finished product left a lot to be desired. I had to purchase additional product to finish as it does not cover as promised. Not happy with this product at all.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Do not buy! We have used Behr paint several times for our indoor and outdoor projects. We bought this product hoping to give our patio an upgrade. However, after a couple days it is starting to bubble and looks terrible besides not looking like the photo as advertised. We spent a lot for this paint and it was definitely not worth it. I do not recommend this paint, save your money.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Completely overrated While I have been doing some renovations to my home during quarantine, I have taken the time to paint my patio outside. After looking at the great reviews this paint had and it’s guarantees, I decided to buy it and get a contractor to apply it for me. It’s been two weeks since I have done that and the paint is already peeling. Look at my photos to see how awful it is. Not only did I have to buy this paint that is expensive, I also had to pay for a contractor to apply it. This has been a complete waste of my money and time. I now have to spend more money and time to find something better.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Nice colors We bought Behr Granite Grip for our 10x20 concrete patio. We pressure washed the bare concrete and prepped it according to directions. Very dissatisfied with coverage, 2 coats does not give the coverage shown in the photos. To get that kind of color coverage it will take at least a 3rd coat and maybe even a 4th coat. Coverage specified on the can is very misleading.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Would give 0 stars if I could This is the worst product I’ve ever used. Followed the directions step by step and all of did was create a giant mess on my patio. Behring should be embarrassed to sell this product

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Won't last long! I am so disappointed with the Behr Premium Granite Grip. I used it in my garage and put down 3 heavy coats. It was very hard to cover the floor and spread so it goes on thick. Don't get me wrong, it looked beautiful when I finished! But it only lasted about 6 months. 20 gallons and 7 days of hard work gone with 1 spilled glass of water. The paint bubbled almost immediately. After a bad storm, some water ran into the garage and ruined another spot. I guess washing the floor is out of the question too.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Patient applicator recommended:-) I bought this even after reading reviews because I needed a no slip surface for my front porch steps. My steps are tiered with 4" vertical surfaces, which they recommend not using this product on vertical surfaces. It worked for me! It took a good three coats and even touched up areas with a 4th coat, but I love it!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Read the Reviews! I didn't, but I really liked the look of concrete rather than paint and with it being a Behr product I assumed all would go well. We have a shared detached single car tiny garage from the 1940s. A large crack runs across the original concrete floor and I have been painting everything with this staying at home time. The first thin coat was very difficult to roll from the tray as directed. An experienced, albeit DIY, house painter I got frustrated so much of the product was sticking to the tray and just poured it. It ended up taking 5 entire gallons for the coverage needed and I need to get another gallon for an area I walked on too soon after 2 and 1/ 2 days. Why is water leaving visible stains? Otherwise very pleased with the result.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This product is aptly named! I wanted to wait to see how this product held up to a Wisconsin winter, the so called frozen tundra, before I reviewed it. It has passed with flying colors! Our front porch was looking worn, pitted and shabby after 35 years. We didn't want to replace it so I looked for something to dress it up and I hoped this might work out well for us. We couldn't be happier, this has added a beautiful unique look to the front of our house and it looks as good as the day I applied it last summer even after shoveling it off all winter. The color we picked really goes well with the rest of our house and gives it a little extra character. It was fairly simple to apply, just be patient and don't try to apply it all in one coat. I put a little extra on the areas that were pitted and it filled them in nicely. It really looks like we replaced the front porch with fancy custom concrete. We've had neighbors ask about it because they liked the look of it and wanted to make their concrete look better too. Thanks for a great product!
