Great coverage and one coat

Behr is my favorite paint- both interior and exterior. I say this is one-coat coverage, however, on stucco we had to go ver. It’s not the product, but the exterior finish that we had to go over some spots. And, the rollers used. Great product with a great finish.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Oil paint for baseboards and trim

It was recommended that I use this oil based product to paint over the stained & varnished baseboards and trim in my house. I used two coats which provided a very smooth, strong feeling coverage.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Whenever I have a paint job to be done I head to Home Depot for Behr paint because they have a wide range of the prettiest colors for any project . I just had my awnings, bathroom , front door and basement walls painted. Next project : stain the deck and paint the garage. So, you don’t need to replace it just Behr paint it.

Great for wall cleaning

We love Behr interior oil base paints. We have been repainting our interior walls (one room at a time) with it. Both our newer painted walls and those that have been repainted with this product 7-10 years ago still look great. These walls are super easy to clean, retain their color well, and work well in high moisture rooms.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Seek outside housing

Having our kitchen cabinets stripped, sanded, primed and painted with oil. This is the most cost-effective process, and makes for the most durable kitchen surface. But the fumes are horrible, lasting for days. Wish we had arranged to stay elsewhere until they subsided. This happened during a cold , humid spell, so we had to keep the inside air at 80 degrees, with no fans or open windows. Otherwise, the painted cabinets will develop non smooth surfaces requiring sanding and repainting. It’s been miserable, but was expected. I should have planned better.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Absolutely Terrible. - Yellowed in 6 months

I've always preferred to paint my trim with oil base paint but haven't purchased any since the days it was readily available. This paint was pure white semi gloss. It went on OK, but dried a little quicker than I was used to. Fast forward 7 months and everything I painted turned a couple shades of yellow brown. It happened with a completely different can as well. I painted over primed and sanded surfaces This paint was purchased from HD and mixed thoroughly before use.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Hi there, thank you for your review. I'm sorry to hear that the Oil-Based Semi-Gloss Enamel you applied seven months ago has yellowed. That is not typical, and I can understand your disappointment. To fix the issue, I recommend scuff sanding the glossiness and making sure the trim is clean and dry before priming the surface with our Multi-Surface Primer (No.436) to ensure the yellowness does not bleed through. After priming, recoat the surface for uniformity. I've reached out to you via email to learn more about your project and assist you with this further. Thank you again for taking the time to share your feedback, and I hope to hear from you soon! -Lina

Satin is SemiGloss - Poor Finish

I bought this paint in satin finish only to find it semi-gloss/gloss. I used an expensive, white Chinese bristle brush to apply it only to find brush strokes everywhere on the finished product. The manager at Buckhead Home Depot in Atlanta refused to exchange it for another stating "Oil finishes differently... we don't take back mixed paint" even though I brought evidence of painted wood. If oil finishes differently, shouldn't this be called semi-gloss? Now, I have to prime it again and switch to latex or go to a competitor paint.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Hello, thank you for your review. I'm sorry to hear that the finish did not turn out as expected. This is not the experience we want for our customers, and I can understand your disappointment. Satin and semi-gloss are considered glossy finishes with a pearl-like appearance. For a finish that is not too glossy, I recommend using an eggshell instead. You can use our Ultra Interior Eggshell Paint over the oil-based finish without having to use a separate primer. I'll reach out to you directly in a private email to find the best way to help. Have a great day! -Giovanna

Bought for Front door- looks good but scrapes off

We bought this paint for our metal front door and it applies well and drys quickly! The problem we have is the storm door magnifies onto the front door which causes the paint to easily scratch. I think the problem is the sun's heat not with the paint. I will try another Behr product at some point for a permanent fix

Yes, I recommend this product.

Porch paint

I bought paint for my wood porch last summer. It was guaranteed for several years. Consequently, most of the paint pealed off during the winter. I am now trying to spray wash the paint that is still on, so I can stain it. I was very disappointed in the Behr paint. It was expensive and did not last even a year.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Hi there, thank you for reviewing our paint. I’m sorry that the paint peeled off and didn't last a year. As it turns out, our Premium Oil-Based Semi-Gloss Enamel isn't designed for porch floors or other areas that will be walked on. I'd recommend removing the coating and applying an exterior statin, as you mentioned in your review. I’ve also reached out to you via email to learn more about your project and assist you with this further. Thank you again for taking the time to share your experience with us, and I hope to hear from you soon! -Ronald

Worst paint ever!

I bought this paint 2 weeks ago. I was looking forward to using it on my kitchen cabinets. I've prepped everything. Laid down primer beforehand. Then proceeded to use this paint with a Wagner 4300 gravity fed spray. I sprayed this paint during 70F weather but this paint would not level smooth. I had the orange peel look. So I sanded the it down with 120 grit. Resprayed with my Graco Truecoat VSP this time but no luck. Again around 70F temp. This paint is running even with light coat. Started dripping. Worst paint ever like I said. It won't even stick to itself. I would not recommend to anyone.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Hi streemline13, thank you for your review. I’m so sorry the paint had an orange peel look at first, then started dripping the next time you applied it on your cabinets. I recommend letting the paint dry for at least 24 hours, sanding smooth any drips or remaining orange peel texture, wiping off the sand dust with a damp cloth, letting the surface dry, then touching up with paint and recoating if needed with an airless sprayer. Customer satisfaction is very important to us, and we appreciate your feedback. I’ll reach out to you directly to assist you with this further. Thank you again for taking the time to share your experience with us, and I hope to hear from you soon! -Joni

Great stuff!!

This is great stuff! I hope oil-base paints are never fully phased out. You can’t find anything like them! my location only had a gloss and semi-gloss. I’m not sure if they make a satin, but I’d love to see that one! The semi-gloss looks like high-glass to me and was a bit too shiny. Levels great, full coverage, takes about 12-15 hours before second coat.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Takes awhile to dry

We're very happy with our color choice (Coney Island), but we found it scratched pretty easily, even after weeks. We painted several interior antique doors after sanding them, and it took about 3 coats until we got full coverage.

BEHR oil base semi-gloss for wood door

Behr provides a good value product for painting my metal door. The color is vibrant. I do not have other brand to benchmark to this paint. It has taken a little longer to dry (over 8 hours) and the brush mark is unfortunately quite visible.

This is great paint. Dries to touch in 4 hours!!!

I have bought six quarts across six weeks to do exterior trim on my home. People who say it does not dry did something wrong. I painted and only got 4 hours of dry time before an unexpected cloud burst that lasted all night.. I checked while it was raining. It had tried to touch after 4 hours and the rain did not affect it. It dries hard with good coverage. For me, it dries a tad too fast but its worth living with that small issue for the finished end result. So yeah, great paint that does what it is supposed to do. Oh, did I mention, it dries to touch in 4 hours and with stood 8 hours of rain with no problems after it dried to touch. I can only buy quarts in California. I am buying another quart tomorrow or the next day to finish additional trim and wood work. If it does not dry for you did not prep correctly or you did something else wrong.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Tough Finish for cedar shake house

Previously painted house with latex, which peeled after two years and became chalky. Oil-Based paint has a stronger odor and has more complicated cleanup with mineral spirits....but totally worth it for outdoor project. Sections of wood siding / shingles that were done with oil-based last longer and color has stayed true. Hard to find in the stores, but was worth the search.

Yes, I recommend this product.
