Properly prepared interior, smooth unfinished, unsealed or stripped wood surfaces, including floors.

Surface Preparation

• Surface must be dry, clean, and free of dirt, grease, glue, and existing coatings before staining.
• Sand the wood in the direction of the grain using fine-grit sandpaper (#150) until smooth.
• Remove all sanding dust.
• To ensure uniform acceptance of stain color and beautiful results, pretreat the wood with BEHR Premium^® Water-Based Pre-Stain Wood Conditioner following label directions.

Product Preparation and Color Testing

• Always test stain on an inconspicuous area of the wood to verify desired color.
• Stir stain thoroughly before and occasionally during use. Do not thin.

Stain Application

• Apply stain in the direction of the grain with a brush or clean cloth.
• Allow the stain to penetrate 2-3 minutes to achieve the desired color.
• The more time the stain is allowed to penetrate, the richer and darker the color will be.
• Remove stain that has not absorbed into the wood with a clean cloth. Wipe in the direction of the grain, while blending light and dark areas to obtain a uniform color.
• Do not allow stain that has not penetrated into the wood to dry on the wood surface.
• To darken the color, apply a second coat after 1 hour, repeating directions above.
• Do not sand between coats of stain.

Clear Finish Application

• Allow the stain to dry for a minimum of 1 hour (dry time may be extended due to high humidity, low temperatures, or inadequate ventilation).
• Complete your project by applying a BEHR Premium Clear Protective Finish, following label directions.
• Recommended finishes include BEHR Premium Fast-Drying Polyurethane or BEHR Premium Spar Urethane.
• Slight ambering may occur when these clear finishes are applied over light-colored stains.
• Always spot test on an inconspicuous area to ensure satisfactory results.

Dry Time

• 1 Hour dry time.
• Longer dry time required in cooler temperatures and higher humidity.

Disposal

• For disposal of empty containers and unused product contact your household refuse collection service.

For one year from the date of purchase, Behr Process LLC warrants to the original consumer purchaser, (1) that the product meets Behr Process LLC’s manufacturing specifications, and (2) the performance of this product when applied according to the label instructions and specifications. If this product is found not to perform as specified on the label within one year from the date of purchase, Behr Process LLC will, at its option and upon presentation of proof-of-purchase (the original receipt), either furnish an equivalent amount of new product or refund the original purchase price of this product to you. This warranty excludes (1) labor and costs of labor for the application or removal of any product, and (2) any incidental or consequential damages, whether based on breach of express or implied warranty, negligence, strict liability or any other legal theory. Some states do not allow the exclusion or limitation of incidental or consequential damages, so the above limitation or exclusion may not apply to you. To the extent permitted by applicable law, any implied warranties including the implied warranties of merchantability and of fitness for a particular purpose, are limited to the duration of this express warranty. Some states do not allow limitations on how long an implied warranty lasts, so the above limitation may not apply to you. This warranty gives you specific legal rights and you may also have other rights, which vary from state to state.
