How to Prep a Stain

Before starting your next project, it is important to properly clean and remove any stains from the surface you are painting. Here is how to remove any stains with just a few easy steps.

For Best Results:

Using a stain-blocking primer will help seal the area prior to painting.

Suggested Tools & Supplies

  • BEHR® Stain-Blocking Primer

  • Brush (2"-2½")

  • Screwdriver

  • Step 1

    Grab your tools.

  • Step 2

    Remove vents using a screwdriver. 

  • Step 3

    Find the stains you want to paint and simply paint over with a BEHR® Stain-Blocking Primer.
