BEHR PREMIUM® Concrete & Masonry Bonding Primer

For a long-lasting durable finish, use BEHR PREMIUM® Concrete & Masonry Bonding Primer. This high-performance water-based primer will promote a uniform topcoat finish and create a strong adhesion between the coating and surface. It is highly recommended for surfaces subject to high foot traffic or automotive vehicle tires. This primer can be used on uncoated or previously coated surfaces. It is easy to apply and dries clear.

Use on uncoated or previously coated Interior or Exterior surfaces such as: Concrete, Masonry, and any Porous Stone or Brick. Not designed for use on wood, metal or silicone treated surfaces. Not for use on vertical surfaces.

NOTE: SOME SURFACES MAY APPEAR SLIGHTLY DARKER AFTER PRODUCT DRIES.

CAUTION: Painted surfaces may become slippery when wet. Use caution when walking on surface when moisture is present.

Preparation† (Proper surface preparation is required.)

For New & Uncoated Surfaces:

All surfaces must be clean, sound, dry and free of any dirt, oil and grease.
New concrete must cure for a minimum of 30 days prior to priming.
Patch all holes and cracks and allow to dry.
For touch-ups where surface coatings have failed, completely remove all loose or peeling paint.
Use a paint stripper to remove any previous coatings or sealers.
Clean and etch surface using a product such as a muriatic acid etcher (read and follow all
manufacturer's label directions) to achieve a textured profile similar to 150 grit sandpaper.
Wipe your fingers over the clean, dry floor to check for dust or powder. Ensure there is no residue on your fingers that may have been left from the etcher. If residue is found, rinse the surface to remove residue.
Allow the surface to dry completely. Sprinkle a few drops of water onto the surface. If water is quickly absorbed and the surface feels like 150 grit sandpaper, the surface is ready. If not, re-etch.

For Previously Coated Surfaces:

For a painted surface in sound condition, use a product to clean and prepare the surface.
If the coating is failing or peeling, use a paint stripper to remove old coating or scrape/sand down to a sound concrete surface.
Scuff sand glossy surfaces.
Clean and spot etch any exposed concrete.
Remove all dust with a damp cloth, allow to dry.

Application

DO NOT THIN.
Stir primer thoroughly before and occasionally during application.
Avoid temperatures lower than 50° F
Use product when air and surface temperatures are between 50-90° F (10-32° C).
Apply using a high-quality pump sprayer, 1/4" - 3/8" nap roller, nylon/polyester brush, or a pad applicator.

Dry Time

Longer dry time required in cooler temperatures and in higher humidity
Must apply a topcoat after at least 4 hours, but before 30 days.

Disposal

Properly dispose of all soiled rags. To recycle or properly dispose of product in your community, contact your household refuse collection service.

If this product is found not to perform as specified on the label during the warranty period, Behr Process LLC will, at its option and upon presentation of proof-of-purchase (the original receipt), either furnish an equivalent amount of new product or refund the original purchase price of this product to you. This warranty excludes (1) labor and costs of labor for the application or removal of any product, and (2) any incidental or consequential damages, whether based on breach of express or implied warranty, negligence, strict liability or any other legal theory. Some states do not allow the exclusion or limitation of incidental or consequential damages, so the above limitation or exclusion may not apply to you.
