Surface Preparation

• FOR PREVIOUSLY FINISHED WOOD THAT IS NOT BEING STRIPPED:

  • Before starting, the surface must be dry, clean and free of dirt, grease, and glue.
  • Lightly sand the existing finish with 400 grit sandpaper to ensure adhesion. Remove all sanding dust.

Product Preparation and Color Testing

• Stir BEHR Premium Stain & Poly In One thoroughly before and occasionally during use. Do not thin.
• Always test Stain & Poly on a scrap piece or hidden area of wood to verify desired color.

Application

• Using a high-quality nylon/polyester bristle brush, dip approximately an inch into the can, gently tapping it against the inside to remove any excess.
• Apply a very THIN, even coat following the direction of the grain.
• Make sure to maintain a “wet” edge.
• To minimize the brush marks and bubbles after staining, tip off the surface by holding the brush at a 45-degree angle and lightly run the bristles over the entire length of the wood.
• Let the first coat dry for 1 hour or more.
• Dry time may be extended due to high humidity, low temperatures, and inadequate ventilation or if the coat is applied too thick.
• Lightly sand the surface between coats with fine sandpaper (#400 grit).
• Remove all dust. Brush on a second thin coat following directions above.
• To deepen the color, apply a third coat. NOTE: For additional protection, without adding color, add a coat of BEHR Premium Fast Drying Polyurethane.
• Please refer to the back label of the container for application instructions.

Dry Time

• 1 Hour dry time.
• Longer dry time required in cooler temperatures and higher humidity.

Disposal

• For disposal of empty containers and unused product contact your household refuse collection service.

For one year from the date of purchase, Behr Process LLC warrants to the original consumer purchaser, (1) that the product meets Behr Process LLC’s manufacturing specifications, and (2) the performance of this product when applied according to the label instructions and specifications. If this product is found not to perform as specified on the label within one year from the date of purchase, Behr Process LLC will, at its option and upon presentation of proof-of-purchase (the original receipt), either furnish an equivalent amount of new product or refund the original purchase price of this product to you. This warranty excludes (1) labor and costs of labor for the application or removal of any product, and (2) any incidental or consequential damages, whether based on breach of express or implied warranty, negligence, strict liability or any other legal theory. Some states do not allow the exclusion or limitation of incidental or consequential damages, so the above limitation or exclusion may not apply to you. To the extent permitted by applicable law, any implied warranties including the implied warranties of merchantability and of fitness for a particular purpose, are limited to the duration of this express warranty. Some states do not allow limitations on how long an implied warranty lasts, so the above limitation may not apply to you. This warranty gives you specific legal rights and you may also have other rights, which vary from state to state.
