How to use BEHR® MAXIMUS® roller covers

Power through exterior projects with BEHR® MAXIMUS® premium polyamide roller covers. Its durable, corkscrew-style fabric enhances paint loading and release while standing tall to resist matting and reduce spatter while painting.

For Best Results:

Before first use, it is essential to properly prepare your roller for optimal painting performance.

Tools & supplies

Step-by-step process

Preparation

Step 1: Tape-off roller

Use tape to remove any loose fibers from the roller to ensure a smooth and shed resistant finish.

Step 2: Pre-wet

Pre-wet roller to activate and prime fabric for loading paint. For water-based coatings, pre-wet with water. For oil-based coatings, pre-wet with manufacturer’s recommended solvent.

Step 3: Remove excess moisture

Before loading paint, spin out excess moisture so that roller is just slightly damp.

Application

Step 1: Load with paint

Dip the roller into the well of paint tray, then roll it over the ribbed area to remove excess paint and avoid drips. Repeat this process for about 30-45 seconds until the roller is evenly saturated.

Step 2: Paint

Start painting on substrate with long vertical strokes. Roll with moderate pressure until paint stops releasing. For application to wood: always apply in the direction of the wood grain.

Step 3: Reload & repeat

Reload roller with paint and overlap each new section with the previous one to create a smooth, even finish.

Tip:

If you need to take a short break during your project, wrap the roller tightly in plastic and place it in a cool area to keep the paint from drying out until you're ready to continue.
