How to apply BEHR PREMIUM® Granite Grip

Before applying, it is essential to have a properly cleaned and prepped surface. Watch this video to learn more about properly prepping your surface BEFORE application.
A minimum of 2 coats is required.

Step-by-step process
Preparation
Step 1
Proper surface preparation is required.
Step 2
Prime: Optimize topcoat adhesion by priming with BEHR PREMIUM® No. 880 Concrete & Masonry Bonding Primer for areas subject to automotive tires, heavy foot traffic, or persistent exposure to moisture, or in areas previously treated for efflorescence or laitance.
Application
Step 1
DO NOT THIN. Intermix all cans of same product to ensure color uniformity. Stir before and occasionally during application. Use product when air and surface temperatures are between 50-90° F.
Step 2
Before application, tape off any adjacent areas.
Step 3
Fill hairline cracks up to 1/8" with coating using a brush. Deeper cracks may need multiple fills to level with surface. Allow to dry completely before roller application.
Step 4
Cut in edges, corners, and joints using a nylon/polyester brush; apply directly from the container.
Step 5
Pour a 12" strip, about 3" wide, directly to surface. NOTE: Avoid over application to prevent cracking, peeling, and reduced spread rate.
Step 6
Using a 1/4" adhesive roller cover, apply moderate pressure and roll in multiple directions to evenly distribute in 3' x 3' sections. Work quickly and overlap the previously coated areas to ensure full coverage. NOTE: The first coat will act as the base coat and it will not completely cover the surface by design.
Step 7
Allow first coat to dry then apply second coat in the same method as the first coat. While two coats are necessary, additional coats may help hide previous surface imperfections or cover over dark colors. Allow 3 to 4 hours dry time between coats.
Step 8
For large projects, consider using a texture sprayer with a 4mm tip. Spray in 4' x 4' sections. Back roll first coat. 2nd and/or final coat back roll is optional.
Step 9
Longer dry time required in cooler temperatures and in higher humidity. The floor may be subjected to light foot traffic after 24 hours. Allow 72 hours before subjecting surface to heavy foot traffic or repositioning furniture. Premature heavy traffic will cause paint failure requiring spot recoating. Wait at least 30 days before rinsing or cleaning. Use a mild detergent as needed.
