How to Sand a Deck
There are a couple of different ways to sand your deck. In this video, you will learn how to properly sand your deck prior to beginning a staining project.
For best results:
Take your time sanding to achieve an even surface and remove any previous top coating. This will help the stain adhere to the surface.
Tools & supplies
- Sanding Block or Electric Sander
- Broom
Step-by-step process
Step 1
Grab your tools.
Step 2
Use a broom to sweep off the deck and remove any dust, dirt or leaves.
Step 3
Working from one end of your deck to the other, sand each board in the direction of the grain until you achieve a smooth finish.
