BEHR PREMIUM® Wood Stain & Finish Stripper

Exterior water-based, oil-based and 100% acrylic coatings on Wood Decks, Porches & Patios, Siding, Fences, Shakes and Shingles.

CAUTION: Surfaces may become slippery when wet. Removes loose wood fiber without sanding. Not for interior use or on aluminum surfaces. May harm bare metal or painted surfaces.

Preparation

• Be sure to have a source for water, hose with nozzle and stiff bristle broom or brush and a product such as BEHR PREMIUM® All-In-One Wood Cleaner to open up the pores of the wood.
• DO NOT THIN PRODUCT.
• Do not apply in direct sunlight or on hot surfaces.
• Dampen nearby foliage with water and cover with plastic drop cloths.
• Conduct a small test patch in an inconspicuous area to ensure product performance.
• Prevent all rinse solution from entering storm drains.

Application

• Use product when air and surface temperatures are between 40-90 F (5-32 C).
• Wear protective clothing, goggles, and acid resistant rubber gloves and boots. Use a NIOSH approved air purifying respirator with an organic vapor cartridge.
• Completely wet the entire wood surface then apply a thick layer of stripper onto the surface using a paint brush or a stiff bristle broom to spread evenly.
• Completely cover original coated surface.
• Allow product to stand for a minimum of 1 hour. More opaque / thicker coatings may require more time.
• Penetration varies according to coating type, thickness, and temperature. Check periodically to ensure that the coating has softened and is completely covered with the stripper.
• If the coated surface becomes dry, re-apply a light coating to dry areas. The stripper should remain wet and active until the coating softens.
• Use a stiff brush to scrub and remove all coating and residue. Some areas may require an additional application.
• Rinse thoroughly with water to remove all chemical residues before recoating. Allow surface to dry completely before recoating.
• Follow up with a product such as BEHR PREMIUM® All-In-One Wood Cleaner to remove stains and rejuvenate natural wood color.
• In case of contact with painted or finished surfaces, rinse immediately with fresh water. Product will damage automobile finishes.

Dry Time

• Surfaces must be thoroughly dry before applying any type of new finish, except those finishes that can be applied to dampened wood.
• Allow the wood to dry for a minimum of 24 hours in warm, dry weather.

Disposal

• Properly dispose of old coating. To recycle or properly dispose of product in your community, contact your household refuse collection service.

LIMITED WARRANTY: For one year from the date of purchase, Behr Paint Company warrants to the original consumer purchaser, (1) that the product meets Behr Paint Company manufacturing specifications, and (2) the performance of this product when applied according to the label instructions and specifications. If this product is found not to perform as specified on the label within one year from the date of purchase, Behr Paint Company will, at its option and upon presentation of proof-of-purchase (the original receipt), either furnish an equivalent amount of new product or refund the original purchase price of this product to you. This warranty excludes (1) labor and costs of labor for the application or removal of any product, and (2) any incidental or consequential damages, whether based on breach of express or implied warranty, negligence, strict liability or any other legal theory. Some states do not allow the exclusion or limitation of incidental or consequential damages, so the above limitation or exclusion may not apply to you. To the extent permitted by applicable law, any implied warranties including the implied warranties of merchantability and of fitness for a particular purpose, are limited to the duration of this express warranty. Some states do not allow limitations on how long an implied warranty lasts, so the above limitation may not apply to you.
