Preparation of Uncoated Pavers, Brick or Natural Stone

Skill:  Novice DIY'er

A great looking finish begins with the right start. Following the proper prep procedures will dramatically affect the look and longevity of your finished project.

For Best Results:

For expert guidance on prepping your uncoated pavers, brick or natural stone surfaces, refer to our how-to steps below.

For your safety, please wear protective clothing, eye goggles, and acid-resistant rubber gloves and footwear.

Suggested Supplies

  • Broom (Stiff Bristle)
  • Rags
  • Scrub Brush
  • Protective Apparel
  • Hose
  • Chemical Resistant Gloves
  • High Pressure Nozzle

  • Mop
Step 1

Make sure the surface is clean. Wipe up all excess oil and grease spills. Scrape and sweep away dirt and other loose contaminants from the surface.

Step 2

Clean and degrease the surface using a plastic watering can. This will evenly distribute the product. Work the Degreaser and Cleaner into the surface using a stiff bristled, non-metal brush or broom. Allow the product to remain on the surface for 10-20 minutes then vigorously scrub the surface. DO NOT allow the surface to dry.

Step 3

Rinse the surface thoroughly with fresh water, while scrubbing at the same time to properly remove remaining residue. Pressure wash for best results.

After application, thoroughly saturate surrounding grass and plants with fresh water.
Step 4

Remove excess water with a non-metal squeegee or mop. Prevent all rinse solution from entering the storm drains. Once the surface is clean and dry, it can be sealed.
