Where to Use

Uncoated and unsealed, properly prepared interior or exterior concrete surfaces such as: patios, porches, pavers, walkways, pool decks, kitchens, bedrooms and other concrete floors. DO NOT use on areas subject to automotive tires.

**Light and pastel colored concrete stains should be used over pool deck surfaces. DARK COLORS RETAIN HEAT.

CAUTION: Stained surfaces may become slippery when wet. Use caution when walking on surface when moisture is present.

How to Use

Preparation† (Proper Surface Preparation is Required.)

• All surfaces must be clean, sound, dry uncoated and free of any dirt, oil and grease.
• New concrete must cure for a minimum of 30 days.
• Use a paint stripper to remove any previous coatings or sealers.
• Clean and etch surface using a product such as a muriatic acid etcher (read and follow all manufacturer's label directions) to achieve a textured profile similar to 150 grit sandpaper.
• Wipe your fingers over the clean, dry floor to check for dust or powder. Ensure there is no residue on your fingers that may have been left from the etcher. If residue is found, rinse the surface to remove residue. Allow the surface to dry completely. Sprinkle a few drops of water onto the surface. If water is quickly absorbed and the surface feels like 150 grit sandpaper, the surface is ready. If not, re-etch.
• Apply a product such as BEHR PREMIUM^® No. 880 Concrete & Masonry Bonding Primer to increase adhesion of topcoat to the surface. Follow all label instructions.

Application

• DO NOT THIN.
• Intermix all cans of same product to ensure color uniformity.
• Stir stain before and occasionally during application. Use product when air and surface temperatures are between 50-90° F (10-32° C).
• Do not apply in direct sunlight. Apply to dry concrete. Do not apply if rain or heavy dew is expected within 24 hours.
• Apply stain in small concrete sections approximately 4' by 4'. Work quickly and feather edges.
• Apply with a high quality pump sprayer with a fine spray setting using a circular motion. Optional: After applying with pump sprayer, for a more uniform look, immediately follow with a 3/8 nap roller lightly saturated with stain.
• Spread rate will vary depending on the porosity and texture of the surface.
• NOTE: The coating will likely lighten as it dries.
• Allow first coat to dry before deciding if a second coat is necessary. Additional coats will help create a variegated look and may slightly darken the finish.
• Horizontal surfaces may be subject to premature wear. Periodic touch-ups may be necessary.

Optional Top Coat

• For added protection, use a product such as BEHR PREMIUM^® No. 985 Wet-Look Sealer for a high-gloss finish or a product such as BEHR PREMIUM^® No. 986 Low-Lustre Sealer for a low-gloss finish.
• Allow stain at least 24 hours to dry before top coating with a clear.

• NOTE: Do not use Wet-Look Sealer or Low-Lustre Sealer as a topcoat around pool decks or other areas subject to moisture. Follow all label instructions.

Dry Time

• Longer dry time required in cooler temperatures and higher humidity. Allow 24 hours for light foot traffic.
• Allow 72 hours before repositioning planters or furniture.
• After 30 days, clean as needed with a mild, non-abrasive liquid detergent.

Clean Up

• Use soap and water. Properly dispose of all soiled rags and protect unused product from freezing.
• To recycle or properly dispose of product in your community, contact your household refuse collection service.

Warranty

LIMITED WARRANTY: For one year from the date of purchase, Behr Paint Company warrants to the original consumer purchaser, (1) that the product meets Behr Paint Company manufacturing specifications, and (2) the performance of this product when applied according to the label instructions and specifications. If this product is found not to perform as specified on the label within one year from the date of purchase, Behr Paint Company will, at its option and upon presentation of proof-of-purchase (the original receipt), either furnish an equivalent amount of new product or refund the original purchase price of this product to you. This warranty excludes (1) labor and costs of labor for the application or removal of any product, and (2) any incidental or consequential damages, whether based on breach of express or implied warranty, negligence, strict liability or any other legal theory. Some states do not allow the exclusion or limitation of incidental or consequential damages, so the above limitation or exclusion may not apply to you. To the extent permitted by applicable law, any implied warranties including the implied warranties of merchantability and of fitness for a particular purpose, are limited to the duration of this express warranty. Some states do not allow limitations on how long an implied warranty lasts, so the above limitation may not apply to you.
