Where to Use
Properly prepared interior bare wood surfaces including furniture, cabinets, doors, trim, molding, paneling and floors. Excellent for both vertical and horizontal surfaces.
How to Use
Surface Preparation
- To ensure uniform stain color and beautiful results on bare wood, apply BEHR Premium Oil-Based Pre-Stain Wood Conditioner prior to staining. Follow label instructions.
- Surfaces (raw and previously finished) must be dry, clean, and free of dirt, grease, and glue.
- For Raw Wood: Sand with #120-grit sandpaper followed by #180-grit or finer for a smoother finish if desired. Remove all dust.
- Over Previously Finished Surfaces: Lightly sand surface with 400 grit sandpaper. Remove all dust.
- To ensure uniform stain color and beautiful results on bare wood, apply BEHR Premium Oil-Based Pre-Stain Wood Conditioner prior to staining. Follow label instructions.
Product Preparation and Color Testing
- Stir stain thoroughly before and occasionally during use. Do not thin.
- Always test stain on an inconspicuous area of the wood to verify desired color.
- The color will vary depending on the type of wood.
- Work in a well-ventilated area.
Stain Application on Bare Wood
- After the wood surface has been cleaned, sanded smooth and all dust removed, apply stain liberally in direction of the grain with a brush, foam applicator or lint-free cloth.
- Allow the stain to penetrate up to 5 minutes.
- Wipe with a soft cloth, first across the grain, then with the grain until all excess is wiped off.
- Do not allow the stain that has not absorbed to dry on the surface.
Clear Finish Application
- Allow the stain to dry for a minimum of 12 hours.
- Complete your project by applying a BEHR Premium® clear protective finish, following label directions.
Dry Time
- Allow at least 12 hours to dry before re-coating or top coating with a BEHR clear protective finish.
Disposal
- For disposal of empty containers and unused product contact your household refuse collection service.

For one year from the date of purchase, Behr Process LLC warrants to the original consumer purchaser, (1) that the product meets Behr Process LLC’s manufacturing specifications, and (2) the performance of this product when applied according to the label instructions and specifications. If this product is found not to perform as specified on the label within one year from the date of purchase, Behr Process LLC will, at its option and upon presentation of proof-of-purchase (the original receipt), either furnish an equivalent amount of new product or refund the original purchase price of this product to you. This warranty excludes (1) labor and costs of labor for the application or removal of any product, and (2) any incidental or consequential damages, whether based on breach of express or implied warranty, negligence, strict liability or any other legal theory. Some states do not allow the exclusion or limitation of incidental or consequential damages, so the above limitation or exclusion may not apply to you. To the extent permitted by applicable law, any implied warranties including the implied warranties of merchantability and of fitness for a particular purpose, are limited to the duration of this express warranty. Some states do not allow limitations on how long an implied warranty lasts, so the above limitation may not apply to you. This warranty gives you specific legal rights and you may also have other rights, which vary from state to state. Note to residents of the State of New Jersey: The provisions of this warranty, including its limitations, are intended to apply to the fullest extent permitted by the laws of the State of New Jersey.
