Interior or Exterior surfaces such as: Porous Concrete, Masonry, Stone and Brick. Ideal for horizontal surfaces such as: Garage Floors, Driveways, Basement floors, Porches and Pool Decks. DO NOT use on vertical surfaces or areas subject to hydrostatic pressure. NOT for industrial use or areas subject to fork-lifts.

Usage SummaryBlank space if empty.
PreparationBlank space if empty.
  • Proper Surface Preparation is Required.
  • All surfaces must be clean, sound, dry and free of any dirt, oil and grease.

New and Uncoated Concrete or Masonry Surfaces:

  • Allow new surfaces to cure 30 days.
  • Clean and etch surface using a product such as a muriatic acid etcher (read and follow all manufacturer's label directions) to achieve a textured profile similar to 150 grit sandpaper.
  • Wipe your fingers over the clean, dry floor to check for dust or powder. Ensure there is no residue on your fingers that may have been left from the etcher. If residue is found, rinse the surface to remove residue. Allow the surface to dry completely. Sprinkle a few drops of water onto the surface. If water is quickly absorbed and the surface feels like 150 grit sandpaper, the surface is ready. If not, re-etch.
  • Apply a Primer Coat: Apply 1 coat of BEHR PREMIUM® Concrete & Garage Self-Priming 1-Part Epoxy, or a product such as BEHR PREMIUM No. 880 Concrete & Masonry Bonding Primer to increase adhesion of topcoat to the surface.

Painted, Stained or Sealed Concrete:

  • For a painted surface in sound condition, use a product to clean and prepare the surface.
  • If the coating is failing or peeling, use a paint stripper to remove old coating or scrape/sand down to a sound concrete surface.
  • Scuff sand glossy surfaces.
  • Clean and spot etch any exposed concrete. Remove all dust with a damp cloth, allow to dry.
  • Spot prime all bare concrete areas with BEHR PREMIUM Concrete & Garage Self-Priming 1-Part Epoxy or with a product such as BEHR PREMIUM No. 880 Concrete & Masonry Bonding Primer to increase adhesion of topcoat to the surface.
ApplicationBlank space if empty.
  • DO NOT THIN.
  • Intermix all cans of same product to ensure color uniformity.
  • Stir before and occasionally during application. Use product when air and surface temperatures are between 50-90° F (10-32° C).
  • Apply to dry concrete. Do not apply if rain or heavy dew is expected within 24 hours.
  • Apply a thin, even coat using a 3/8" nap roller cover, nylon/polyester brush or an airless sprayer (.015"-.021" spray tip, 60 mesh filter).
  • Allow first coat to dry before deciding if a second coat is necessary. Additional coats may be required for optimal hide and durability.
  • For uniformity apply second coat in a criss-cross pattern.
  • An annual touch-up may be required in areas subject to tire traffic.
Dry TimeBlank space if empty.
  • Longer dry time required in cooler temperatures and in higher humidity.
  • The floor may be subjected to light foot traffic after 24 hours.
  • Allow 72 hours before subjecting surface to heavy foot traffic or repositioning furniture.
  • Allow 7 days before subjecting to automotive tires.
  • Premature heavy traffic will cause paint failure requiring spot recoating.
  • If necessary, corrugated cardboard may be used underneath automobile tires after 72 hours.
  • Wait at least 30 days before rinsing or cleaning. Use a mild detergent as needed.
  • Abrasive cleaners and pressure-washers should be used carefully to avoid premature paint failure.
DisposalBlank space if empty.
  • Properly dispose of all soiled rags.
  • To recycle or properly dispose of product in your community, contact your household refuse collection service.

BEHR PREMIUM® Interior/Exterior Concrete & Garage Self-Priming 1-Part Epoxy is rated 3.6 out of 5 by 72.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Crummy Product I used the Behr Premium Interior/Exterior Concrete & Garage Self-Priming Epoxy on our brand new garage floor. I followed the directions to a tee - etching, ensuring proper ventilation and drying time, etc. Having read the reviews, I even called Behr other suggestions they might have. Less than a month after we began using the garage for our vehicles, the epoxy is flaking. Suggestion - do not use this product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Overall! If I can do it anyone can, I bought this Concrete & Garage self-priming epoxy and was very please with the ease of its application. I am a Woman, and a Senior to boot. I applied BEHR PREMIUM Interior/Exterior to my concrete basement floor and the end results were Phenomenal. I used a roller and had no problem with its application and the coverage was top notch.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Terrible - peeled after first time parking on it We waited 8 days after the second coat was applied to our garage floor and after one night of parking on it the paint was peeling up under all four tires. We followed the directions as stated on the can so it's incredibly frustrating to have spent all this time working on a project and waiting for it to dry to have such terrible results. I've always used Behr products for interior paint but this truly missed the mark.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from wished it was BETTER I used this 3 yrs ago, on absolute PERFECT prep job. it started peeling aft 3 mo. HOWEVER I LOVE the idea of this type product SO 2 wks ago i did the same floor with your “new product”. 3 men scrubbed, scraped and then sanded back to nothing, then an etching primer advised by home depot, then 2 coats of sand. IT DIDNT COVER WELL AT ALL! We are now having to GO BACK AND DO ANOTHER COAT! NO ONE CAN ANSWER WHETHER A TOP COAT SEALER HELPS WITH ENDURANCE. A HUGE EFFORT FOR POOR RESULTS!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Do not Buy I bought 3 gallons of this paint from Home Depot. I followed every instruction on this product to the minutest detail. Cleaned the garage with Pressure washer, waited one day and then cleaned with Rustoleum Etching Solution. Scrapped the garage floor till the surface felt like Sandpaper. Cleaned the floor another 2 times to get the acid out. Waited another 48 hrs for floor to dry out. Then applied 2 coats of this paint on the floor. Waited another 10 days before bringing my Car in. The tires were not hot at all as the car was brought in from the driveway. When I backed out the next day, the paint at the tire location was peeled off. This is really disappointing as I thought the paint would stand up to its Behr's reputation. I will stay away from Behr products hence forward.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not really that great Bought it 8/23, used dawn and bleach then muriatic acid, let it dry put 2 coats on, waited 1 week, drove car parked k. Drive way next day peeled where the tire was. I am not happy. What so ever

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Still Bad I review this product 14 days ago, about a week after I has finished redoing my garage floor with it. It was coming up in three decent sized spots around the size of a basketball. Customer service responded saying to sand the edges, clean, and re-lay the paint. I still haven't done that yet, but since then Its been coming up all over the place now. I saw people were having problems in the reviews with it adhering properly, but I thought "maybe they just didn't prep right." I spent so much time cleaning, prepping, and etching, and it looks terrible. And now I have a bunch of crappy paint I have to get up before I can redo it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from 1st choice for covering cement This is the second time i’ve chosen to use this product over the competition. I had tried a complicated epoxy product that included throwing sand onto the wet paint otherwise it would be too slippery. If the paint dried too fast the sand would not stick evenly. Behr Premium Concrete & Garage 1 part epoxy is as simple as painting a wall. Clean the surface, use bonding primer and two coats of epoxy. Clean up with water and let dry. Follow guidelines on when to drive upon ( 2 days longer for heavy vehicles). Easy!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great paint I purchased this paint to apply to my garage floor and it was easy to apply, offered great coverage, and it transformed my garage floor to a beautiful floor. My only complaint is it says not to wet or clean the floor for 30 days which is a long time. Also it did not smell strong.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from I should have listened to others I had been told not to waste my time painting my concrete patio. Pressure washed, cleaned extensively waited a week for it to try, painted 3 coats on. Waited more than a week to put furniture onto my patio. Soon as I rolled out my BBQ there goes the paint. Just hosing the floor with water paint chips/flakes away.. Total Garbage.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Needed 4 coats and still didn't look great I bought this because it was a concrete floor in house. I thought it would be a unique look with a bit of stenciling. It got mixed reviews on how it handled the tires, but since that wasn't an issue I liked the 1-part. I thought it would be quick easy and fairly inexpensive. It was terrible. Coat after coat it never seemed to cover consistently. Terrible experience.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Easy to use BUT !!!! Followed all directions to the letter, even allowed an extra 2 days drying/curing time on my driveway. 10 days later when I pulled the car into my driveway, paint under the standing tire area pulled up leaving nasty tire marks. I powerwashed and scrubbed the entire driveway and allowed it to dry 36 hrs prior to painting. 2 coats applied and still pulls up under tires. We live in south florida and the only thing I can think of is surface heat. That being said, is there a sealer that can be applied over the paint to resolve this issue. If there’s a sealer that can be applied OVER the paint, please provide product info so I can try that. No problems in areas NOT subject to tire contact, not particularly pleased with this product, especially with what it costs compared to many other products. Thought I was buying the best ????? Please Advise

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product!! I bought a 5 gallon bucket of this for my shed. It mixes up well, goes on smooth, doesn't have a harsh odor (you can smell the paint, but it's not strong) & it dries in a reasonable time. Definitely recommend.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Does not resist hot tire marks I bought this a month ago for my driveway, patio and sidewalks. Paint coverage was good and only had to use one coat. Paint dried quickly. Let dry for 2 days. Started parking cars on driveway and immediately started seeing tire marks. Thought maybe the tires were too hot so I left cars on street to cool before parking. No good, still have numerous tire marks that do not completely clean off. It is almost like instead of resisting tire marks the paint attracts tire marks.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent basement floor paint I've used this on 3 full basements so far. It's very durable. Very strong finish against scuffing and scratching and chipping. No problems. And after 25 years, the oldest floor is no at all worn thru, even by the doorway that gets used all the time, or around certain power tools where I stand a lot. Makes a real nice looking finish. It can be custom-tinted to any color you want. The most recent floor was tinted to match a certain trim color in the house. The way I use it is to etch, then apply the bonding primer, wait 2 days, then first coat of color epoxy, wait 2 or more days, then a second coat of epoxy. I recommend waiting about 6 or 7 days before moving things back in place so it cures to it's full hardness. Superb finish. For 2 of the floors I also topcoated with the low-luster clear acrylic. The clear makes the floor a bit easier to keep real clean with just a sponge mop. I painted my shop floor white, and with the clear coat it's still white 15 years later! I am very happy with this product.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good coverage, slippery when wet Love the color options. Like the easy clean-up. Great coverage even where the concrete surface was not etched (chemical pretreat.) When wet, in some areas, this may get a bit slippery.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The best! I can’t believe how well this stuff works! I use it on many things. I blacked out exterior windows with no problem. A year later it’s still perfect! I have used on a rubber matted floor in a trampoline park and it gets stepped on everyday, no problem! On a sealed concrete floor, no problem!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to Apply, Looks Great I used this on the concrete floor in my basement. Sprinkled chips on the surface while the paint was still wet. Very easy to use and it looks great. This is the second concrete floor Ive done, last one was about 5 years ago and it looks as good as the one I just did. The paint also help keep moisture from passing thru the concrete, resulting in much less humidity in the basement.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Simple great coverage for concrete floors I used this to paint my den that used to be a garage, I cleaned the floor, just swept it made sure there wasnt any loose particles then rolled it on. It still looks great!! Then made a recent purchase for my front porch. Make sure the room is well ventilated though, otherwise a great product!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent coverage I pulled up old indoor outdoor carpet which revealed alot of old nasty glue. I scraped and sanded but wasn't making much head way. I gave up and purchased a gallon to cover a 16x20 area. It covered in one coat , didn't splatter or have a smell. I purchased paint chips to hide any imperfections , and they worked well .Will definitely buy more to cover my lania floor. I am amazed. I have always used Behr and have never been disappointed.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Only good for 2 weeks Floor cleaned with detergent, then twice with muriatic acid. Painted May 4. Kept car in driveway until May 12 before moving into garage. May 20 (8 days later!!), floor already peeling. When looking for customer service number, noticed warning about removing paint - contains lead. I'm heartsick. It was so much work and so expensive (hired painter, but moved everything myself - twice).

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Peels like an banana - Horrible This has been the most disappointing Behr product I have ever purchased - I am a loyal Behr customer for 20 years and this is a horrible product. I painted a prepared basement concrete floor, allowed proper cure times according to directions and this product chips and peels with the littlest of activity. I even walk easier when down there for fear it will come up! Don't even think about getting it wet. Now I have to (thankfully easily) scrape the rest of it off and find something better. I can't imagine driving a CAR on this??!! Do not waste your time or money.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not for a pool deck I painted my Florida concrete pool deck 6 months ago with this product upon advice from Home Depot rep. Big mistake there are multiple areas that the paint continues to peel and flake especially when you spray with a hose. I have painted pool decks many times in the past with Dyco and never had any problems like this. It also scuffs very easy with shoes and other foot gear. The finish looks nice but is not a durable product. Yes I pressured washed let dry for a couple days before applying. I couldn’t even imagine using this on a smooth concrete floor or garage.
