Top 10 Gray Behr Paint Colors
Help Your Client Find Their Perfect Shade

For more than a decade, gray has been the rock star of the neutrals world. Thanks to its multifaceted complexity, this shade can articulate an array of moods: dramatic, soft, elegant, bold, light or grounded. It’s a huge part of its appeal — but gray can’t do it alone, as it depends on a myriad of factors. Therefore, helping your clients pick the right gray can be tricky.

Why? Well, despite its high versatility, dynamics such as light sensitivity and complex color undertones can drastically alter a gray’s final result. Also, while a vital tool, paint chips have a hard time conveying gray’s depth and nuance. This doesn’t mean you or your client should give up on the beauty and richness of gray. Rather, it’s a reminder to communicate with your clients to help them discover their perfect shade.

Here are a few topics to consider:

True Colors

How often have you heard a client say something like, “Why are there so many choices?”

Your answer may be, “More often than I’d like!” Yet, consider this your first opportunity to help them learn about color. For example, perhaps discuss how “pure” grays are undiluted, light, mid or dark tones — a straightforward blend of black and white. On the other hand, most grays are infused with other colors to create a range of diverse “flavors” of this multitalented neutral.

The above scenario is only an example of how clients may often be unaware of the factors that can hugely affect a paint job’s final outcome. The fact is, they depend (whether or not they know it) on your professional expertise and guidance.

Be Careful of the Undertone

Subtle and often unnoticed, undertones — slight warm and cool tints mixed into colors — play a vital role in creating a shade’s depth and personality. Case in point, a color’s undertone (or lack thereof) can change a gray’s appearance in the following ways:

  • Pure grays have no undertones, so they appear clear and distinct
  • Blue-grays are balanced and serene
  • Green-grays feel calm and grounded
  • Pink-, purple- and violet-grays add allure and a hint of magic

While undertones may not be obvious at first, they often become pronounced once the paint dries, so save some time having to repaint by guiding your clients through the undulating world of undertones.

Lighting Effects

Let’s say your client finds a gray that makes them swoon. Yet, when they take it home, what looked fantastic in natural daylight loses all of its allure when the lights come on at night. What they didn’t know is that — whether natural, fluorescent, halogen or LED — lighting can drastically change color. In fact, depending on the source, grays can shift from green and brown, to purple and blue.

Sharing this knowledge with your customers will help them consider other grays that flourish with their current lighting. Also, encourage them to sample, sample, sample — as painting swatches on a few walls is an inexpensive (not to mention timesaving) way to find what works best for them.

If your client needs some inspiration, have them check out Behr Paint Company’s Top 10 Grays:

PLATINUM — PPU26-11

Platinum – an understated, pale gray with silvery green undertones — is a One-Coat Hide guaranteed* color that can lighten and expand any space. In addition, this amiable shade complements a spectrum of other colors.

This light gray is the cornerstone for creating sophisticated, yet welcoming living and dining rooms. Platinum paired with cool whites and deeper grays shines in both areas. (Hint: Add some personality to the dining room with pops of your favorite color). Kitchens may follow suit but consider painting the cabinets gray and using a muted red or orange on the walls to stimulate the appetite.

Once outside, Platinum is impeccable either on the exterior walls or the front door.

CHIC GRAY — PPU26-10

Elegant. Warm. Effortless. Chic Gray is a One-Coat Hide guaranteed* color that is a highly versatile, mid-tone neutral that balances earth and sky.

On one hand, its lightness expands tight spaces such as small bathrooms, hallways or entries. On the other, its beige notes and greige undertones bring a feeling of elegance to kitchens, dining areas and living rooms — as well as a sense of coziness to kids’ rooms and offices.

As an exterior, Chic Gray leans more toward traditional, working best with timber or brick houses.

NATURAL GRAY — PPU18-10

Natural Gray — a light, pure-neutral — is a One-Coat Hide guaranteed* color that exudes a classic, yet versatile, feel inside and out. With no undertones, this shade is warmed by notes of taupe, making it equally at home as an accent or backdrop in modern, classical or transitional settings. In concert with proper lighting, Natural Gray establishes a warm welcome in entries and hallways, invites a bit of boldness in kitchens, fosters elegance in living and dining rooms, and emphasis ease and comfort in bedrooms and baths.

Outside, Natural Gray tends to work best with traditional wood exteriors and white accents.

SILVER BULLET — N520-2

A cool, mid-gray, Silver Bullet exudes poise and subtlety, thanks to its touches of lavender and a silvery effect. It’s an ideal backdrop for bold accents or as an accent in its own right. Living rooms will shimmer when Silver Bullet pairs with neutrals, creating a modern feel. Kitchens and dining rooms are great areas to keep things classical. Try this shade on the walls and pair with clean whites for a simple, yet stunning, effect.

Moving outside, Silver Bullet works beautifully on walls, with white trim — or can create some intrigue by using it on the front door.

DOLPHIN FIN — 790C-3

Soft and refreshing, Dolphin Fin is a One-Coat Hide guaranteed* delightful gray that emanates comfort and balance. This unique, warm shade turns heads when it fluctuates between showing off its cool-blue or warm-beige undertones. When it comes to social areas, Dolphin Fin is ready for anything, integrating seamlessly as either a wall or accent. Also, with the popularity of painting cabinets gray, Dolphin Fin invites you to give it a try in the kitchen or bath, while bedrooms will simply glow with Dolphin Fin on the walls accented by a variety of whites.

FRENCH SILVER — PPU18-05

An ultra-chic, mid-tone gray, French Silver is a One-Coat Hide guaranteed* color that delights in its cool, elegant blue undertones. This versatile shade works beautifully with an array of hues, as well as other grays — breathing new life into a home.

If your client dreams of Neoclassical social spaces, pair French Silver with a muted light blue, yellow or green. If they’re a fan of Scandi, use this shade on walls to accentuate light wood floors and functional furnishings. In the kitchen, try this shade on your client’s cabinets with a light background. For bedrooms and baths, try French Silver with a soft teal, pink, purple or any color that makes them happy!

FLANNEL GRAY — N520-3

Like your coziest set of bedsheets, Flannel Gray is a One-Coat Hide guaranteed* cool, medium-gray with touches of warm, plum undertones that nurture a sense of comfort and peace.

In living and dining rooms, Flannel Gray exudes modern elegance when paired with muted beige or pink, or a soft or deep blue. If you’re feeling bold, consider a mid-to -dark earthy red. Keep the kitchen clean and classic by combining this hue with complementary whites and brass or brushed nickel hardware. Bedrooms and baths are perfect for soothing pinks, purples or greens. Outside, Flannel Gray makes a strong (but not overwhelming) statement on an array of exterior styles — but it can also steal the show as an accent.

WHITE METAL — N520-1

This shade has a knack for opening and expanding spaces, establishing a sophisticated, yet mellow, vibe.

There’s no question that this silvery gray is destined for living and dining room walls. While whites are a classic accent, the look is up to you. White Metal is equally captivating on kitchen walls or cabinets — try a light, but lively, orange or yellow accent for contrast. To create a soothing bedroom retreat, consider covering three walls in a dusty-lavender hue, with White Metal as the accent color on the fourth wall, as well as on the ceiling.

CLASSIC SILVER — PPU18-11

Classic Silver is a One-Coat Hide guaranteed* mid-gray neutral warmed by tinges of yellow and cooled by hints of blue. This combination creates a nearly pure shade that performs as a neutral or as a commanding hue. Consider a few bold touches to brighten the living or dining room, as well as create balance and interest. Conversely, the kitchen is better suited for a gray and white combination, using Classic Silver on walls or cabinets. Whether you love timeless contrast with dark wood or modern monochrome with pops of color, Classic Silver creates a stunning aesthetic in bedrooms and baths.

And, if you paint your exterior with this gray, as well as integrate white trim and a dark roof, you can count on making a lasting impression.

 GRATIFYING GRAY — DC-008

Gratifying Gray is a One-Coat Hide guaranteed* color that delivers a soothing sense of satisfaction as a light-base gray with purity and elegance to elevate any space.

On the wall, this gray brings finesse to living and dining rooms, so turn some heads by accenting with a muted, mid- to dark-teal, raspberry or gold. Balance the boldness by integrating lighter hues — such as muted pinks, greens or blues — or a monochromatic scheme in bedrooms, bathrooms and entryways. Gratifying Gray makes for a beautiful exterior, especially with contrasting elements such as mid- to dark- green, orange or blue shutters.

Looking for a darker grey that will compliment my walls painted with Berh Marquis Hush

    • Riley Shear says:

      Hi Gail,
Hush is a light gray with a slight blue undertone. Slightly darker grey variations that would coordinate well with it include Silverstone PPU26-08 and Cool Ashes N520-4.

  2. Nancy Engravido says:

Looking to paint our foyer and hallway “chic grey” would “French Silver” or “Classic Silver” go well in our living room which is off the foyer? Other than these choices any suggestions for foyer and living room that would compliment each other. Looking for a darker grey for living room and a bit lighter soft grey for foyer. Thank you Nancy E

    • Riley Shear says:

      Hi Nancy,
French Silver, Classic Silver and Chic Gray are some of BEHR’s best-selling midtone grays, however, Classic Silver and French Silver have a slightly cooler blue undertone. Because Chic Gray is a sophisticated gray with a slight rosy undertone, we suggest using a darker variation with similar undertones such as Grey Mist HDC-CT-21, Fashion Gray PPU18-18 or Elephant Skin PPU18-16 for a more harmonious room-to-room color transition.
      Kindly,
      The BEHR PRO Team

My daughter is a huge Ohio State fan. Want to paint her sitting room (repurposed bedroom with 1 window facing north) a gray color with white trim. Any suggestions on the proper shade of gray to use?

    • Riley Shear says:

      Hi Lorelei,

We suggest choosing Rainmaster MQ5-22 as it most closely aligns with the Ohio State gray logo color. Rainmaster is part of our One-Coat Hide collection*.
*One-coat hide guaranteed when tinted into BEHR DYNASTY™ Interior and MARQUEE® Interior and Exterior paint. Limitations apply. For more information, visit the One-Coat Color Guarantee page.

What paint color would go well on the walls of a remodeled bathroom that is black and white with a cherry wood on some of the walls and ceiling? Don’t want just white on the walls.

    • Riley Shear says:

      Hi Rebecca,

Light dusty blues and greens would complement black, white, and cherry wood in a bathroom. Consider using one of the following options. Silver Feather BWC-29, Brook Green N410-2, or Urban Raincoat N440-2. These almost neutral colors will harmonize with existing wood elements. In addition, they will create a soft and soothing contrast to the black and white.

      Kindly,
      The BEHR PRO Team

  5. sarah says:

What would be the best darker grey that would coordinate with one wall classic silver?

    • Riley Shear says:

      Hi Sarah,

Consider using Gateway Gray MQ6-22 for a subtle accent and Dark Ash 770-5 for a more dramatic effect.

  6. Dawn Sorensen says:

I’m getting ready to update my mom’s house with a gray toned interior paint. We are narrowed down to three grays and hope you can recommend white trims for the baseboards, window trim, and ceiling for each gray – chic gray, dove, and burnished clay. Her house is dark so we need to sample the colors throughout the house in order to make our final decision on the best gray. She has one wall completely covered in brick with a black wood stove coming out of that wall. We would like to paint that brick. Is it best to paint it the gray wall color we are painting the rest of the house or do we paint it whatever white trim color we choose? Also, what do you recommend painting the hearth? I imagine the hearth needs to be one of the darker accent colors, one which can get dirty with ash or soot. Thanks for any guidance you can provide. It is very appreciated.

    • Riley Shear says:

      Hi Dawn,

To help you decide between the three grays, we’ll break down the characteristics or undertones of each so that you can make an informed decision.

Dove is a light and warm and soothing “greige” (warm gray) that helps create a peaceful and gentle mood that uplifts the spirit.
Chic Gray is cool and sophisticated taupe that can add a cozy yet neutral touch to any space.
Burnished Clay is a light taupe-gray that can sometimes appear slightly rosy depending on the time of day and light source.

Here’s our three white color options that could work well with any other grays you are considering:
Polar Bear is a versatile true white and one of BEHR’s most popular whites that can add a clean and crisp touch to the trim and brick wall.
Silky White is a smooth and natural white that can add a subtle warm touch to any space.
Smoky White warms up its surroundings with its light gray tone. This would create a very subtle contrast with any of the grays listed above.

As far as the brick wall goes, we recommend painting it with the same white you choose for the trim as this will help define and brighten it.
Depending on the design and height of the hearth, you may want to paint it with a slightly darker gray color. A visual would help us provide the best color advice for this area.

      Kindly,
      The BEHR PRO Team

  7. Sophia says:

I have moved to a condo with large north facing windows. My furniture is off-white and accent colors are red and gray. Despite the current trend of earthy colors, I love gray and would love to hear suggestions of what grays could work, or any other suggestions. Thank you!

    • Riley Shear says:

      Hi Sophia,

North facing light tends to be cool and blue. To make a north facing room feel warmer, you could use warm colors or neutrals with warm undertones such as red, orange, yellow and their variations. These colors can help create a cozy and inviting atmosphere in a room with cool, blue-toned light.

Gray is a versatile color that can also work well in a variety of interior design styles. Specifically warm toned grays can be used to help reflect the light and brighten the space. If you’re looking for gray shades that would complement your off-white furniture and red accents, consider shades such as:

Dolphin Fin 790C-3 & Gratifying Gray DC-008: These soft, pale grays can add a fresh and airy feel to a room. They are great options if you’re looking for a neutral base color to build upon.
Grant Gray HDC-AC-19: This is a medium gray with warm undertones that will give your room a cozy and calming atmosphere.
Dark Ash 770F-5: This dark gray can add depth and sophistication to a room. This would make a great option if you’re looking for a bolder accent color to balance out the red accents and can work well for a feature wall.

Another suggestion would be to incorporate natural elements like wood and plants to balance the gray and red colors and bring warmth to a north facing room.

      Kindly,
      The BEHR PRO Team

  8. Lindsay says:

Hi, we have an old 20’s bungalow and recently had our house exterior siding painted Autumn Sage ECC-63-1 and the trim painted Ultra Pure White. At the bottom going around our house and on the front pillars it has a painted brick. We found that it’s too much green having that painted the autumn sage too so we are wanting to paint that brick a more natural stone like color, like a gray. I’m having trouble trying to figure out what grays would look best with the autumn sage. Can you please give us some suggestions? Thank you very much for your help.

    • Riley Shear says:

      Hi Lindsay,

Whenever the trim is white, it is very common to paint house pillar in the same color. But if you’re planning to introduce a different color, it’s important to consider the surrounding landscape and the overall style of the house. Natural colors, such as brown, greige, or gray, can be a good choice for a more rustic or natural look. Here are some not too beige nor too gray color options to consider: Downtown Gray PPU24-10, True Taupewood PPU24-09, and Greige PPU24-11.

      Kindly,
      The BEHR PRO Team

  9. Monica Jarvis says:

I am looking for a gray with no undertones or earth/tan undertones) to paint my hallways. Short hallways and narrow hallways both upstairs and downstairs. It need to be medium tone. Any suggestions?

    • Riley Shear says:

      Hi Monica,

Consider using one of the following: Gratifying Gray DC-008, Dolphin Fin 790C-3, Silver City MQ2-59 or Classic Silver PP18-11.

      Kindly,
      The BEHR PRO Team

  10. Diane Klemmer says:

I am painting a very small bath with no window. I want a taupe on top (a mid range taupe…not light or dark). The bottom is bead board and I want a warm gray on that. Right now I have picked Mesa Taupe and Ancestral. Can you give me your suggestions? Is Ancestral too dark for a small room? It seems like a richer tone of gray for the bead board. I am matching the accent tile in the shower.

    • Riley Shear says:

      Hi Diane,

Mesa Taupe is desert-washed taupe with a rosy undertone. If you’re looking for a “taupe” that feels neutral and timeless, consider using Smokestack N220-3 or Pasha Brown MQ2-5. Ancestral is an elegant and versatile deep charcoal gray with a slight green undertone that might be a bit too dark for a small bathroom with no natural light. However, since it is just the lower wall getting painted with a dark color, it might be okay.

      Kindly,
      The BEHR PRO Team

  11. Malcom says:

Any suggestions for a pure (or at least non blue undertone) gray in the 50-60 LRV range? Main contrasts will be black/white/navy blue. I’ve used and liked Cool Ashes, Elemental Gray, Sparrow – liked them all, but when I get into lighter shades I’m looking for for a basement kitchen, living room, hallways – those undertones really start showing up. Dolphin Fin or Natural Gray seem like decent finalist, but maybe too beige? Open to check out any options you’d recommend.

    • Riley Shear says:

      Hi Malcom,

Gratifying Gray DC-008 or Silver City MQ2-59. Also, the color of light bulbs can have an impact on the way that paint colors appear. For example, cooler color temperature bulbs, such as those with a higher Kelvin rating (5000K and above), can make gray paint colors appear bluer. Testing different Kelvin rating light bulbs can help you find the right balance of light and color to create the desired look and feel for your room.

      Kindly,
      The BEHR PRO Team

  12. Jethro says:

Could you please advise a neutral gray color that is at least a shade lighter than White Metal? Thanks!

    • Riley Shear says:

      Hi Jethro,

Here are a couple of slight lighter variations for a neutral gray color: Tinsmith BL-W11 or Canyon Wind BL-W02.

      Kindly,
      The BEHR PRO Team

PAINT FRONT DOOR BLACK; WHITE TRIM; IT CANNOT BE A LIGHT GRAY OR A DARK DARK GRAY; I HAVE LUSH
LANDSCAPE AROUND THE HOUSE. IS FLANNEL GRAY TOO DARK: THANK YOU

    • Riley Shear says:

      Hi Cristina,

Thanks for contacting BEHR with your question. Flannel Gray N520-3 is one of our favorite colors, however, it’s on the lighter side. A mid-dark gray could be a nice compromise for your home exterior project. Here are some of our favorite and best-selling dark grays for exteriors: Dark Pewter PPU18-04, Graphic Charcoal N500-6, Dark Ash 770F-5, Imperial Gray PPU26-02, and Shadow Mountain PPU24-22.

We are remodeling a small bathroom with mostly white color with black accents and brushed nickel trims. We also have a blue vanity with brushed gold trims. Which grey, or other color, wall paint would work well?

    • Riley Shear says:

      Hello,

For a clean and airy look, consider using a light gray with a cool undertone. Here are a couple of options: Platinum PPU26-11 or Silver Feather BWC-29. For a slightly warmer and cozier look, try one of the following: Gratifying Gray DC-008 or Tranquil Gray DC-007.

      Kindly,
      The BEHR PRO Team

  15. Jaime Hayes says:

Painted our basement walls Night Blooming Jasmine and planning to paint 5 basement doors with Conifer Green. What color of trim would look good around the doors and baseboards? Would a shade of grey look good? If so, which ones? Our flooring is a vinyl weathered grey.

    • Riley Shear says:

      Hi Jaime,

Night Blooming Jasmine is a milky white with a slight yellow undertone. For a crisp look with very subtle contrast, try using ULTRA PURE WHITE. For a slightly more dramatic look, try a gray with a similar warm undertone such as Silver Ash GR-11, Gratifying Gray DC-008 or Toasty Gray N320-2.

      Kindly,
      The BEHR PRO Team

  16. Bonita says:

I have large East and West windows in these rooms
    Thank You

    • Riley Shear says:

      Hi Bonita,

Chic Gray has an LRV of 60, so you could consider using one the following: Dove HDC-MD-21 (LRV-66) or Poetic Light BWC-21 (LRV-74).

      Kindly,

  17. KATHY THOULION says:

  18. Dale says:

Hey there. I am looking for a Gray for my bedroom to go well with my Black bedroom furniture. Please advise a few different options as I find it is difficult to choose a Gray colour. Though I am not interested in any undertones. Thanks!

  20. Danny Valencia says:

What light color gray goes with beige tone vinyl flooring (moose lake by Lifeproof)? And which coordinating white colors?

  21. Linda says:

Would like a suggestion for an accent wall color that would work with French Silver, as the main wall color. This is a small footprint home of 800 sq feet, the walls in the two bedrooms, hallway, and large open living space that is “ L” shape room as living room and dining area, open to a small galley kitchen area. I have one accent wall that I am searching for a color suggestion, as well as the interior side of the entrance doors.

    • Riley Shear says:

      Hi Linda,

With French Silver as the main wall color in your small footprint home, you have a lot of options for an accent wall color that can add interest and create a focal point. Here are a few suggestions:
From BEHR Designer Collection Midnight Blue N480-7: Consider a deep navy blue for the accent wall. It can create a striking contrast with the French Silver and add depth to the space.
From BEHR Designer Collection Dark Everglade HDC-CL-21A: An accent wall in “emerald green” can bring a bold and vibrant touch to your space. It complements French Silver nicely and adds a pop of color.
Top selling orange tone and former COTY, Canyon Dusk S210-4: A warm rust or burnt orange hue can provide a cozy and inviting accent to your home. It adds warmth and earthiness to the French Silver walls, creating a welcoming atmosphere.
Smokey Pink N150-2 from BEHR Color Trends 2023: For a subtle and delicate accent, consider a soft blush pink. This color can create a gentle contrast with the French Silver and bring a touch of elegance to the space.
For the interior side of the entrance doors, you can either choose to match the accent wall colors or opt for a white of neutral shades that complements both the French Silver and the accent color you choose.

      Kindly,
      The BEHR PRO Team

  22. Heather Guillou says:

We are painting our house exterior. We have stucco, wood and tan stone. Our trim is all white. I would like a light grey for our stucco., a medium grey for the wood that stands out with the white trim but also looks good with the tan stone, and a darker grey for our two peaks and as highlights around the medium grey. What greys would you suggest?

  23. Cassandra Alves says:

Gray for living room that will go with a dark brown couch and dark floors?

  24. Becky Butts says:

    Good Afternoon,

I’m looking for some gray paint colors. I have in my den, kitchen and dining room with half wall with boards like a chair rail and would like to paint this a darker gray but not real dark and the top of the walls a lighter gray which would also be painted throughout the house. What gray colors would you suggest?

    Thanks.

    • Riley Shear says:

      Hi Becky,

When it comes to selecting gray paint colors for your den, kitchen, and dining room with a chair rail, it’s important to find a darker shade that complements the overall aesthetic while also providing a touch of contrast. Additionally, a lighter gray for the top of the walls, which can be carried throughout the house, can create a cohesive and harmonious look. Here are a couple of gray color pairings that you may find appealing:

      Option 1
      – Upper Wall: Gratifying Gray DC-008
      – Lower Walls (darker): Downtown Gray PPU24-10

      Option 2
      – Upper Wall: Tranquil Gray DC-007
      – Lower Walls (darker): Greige PPU24-11

Remember, paint colors can appear differently based on lighting and surrounding elements.

I am looking for a true silver/grey (white/black) with no undertones in a lighter tone. I do not want any blue/lavendar/green/rose undertones in my kitchen. What do you recommend?

  28. Janice says:

I painted my kitchen with Hush and it brought out the yellow in my white cabinets. Which gray will make the white look whiter?

    • Riley Shear says:

      Hi Janice,

To downplay the yellow undertone in your cabinets, try using a warm gray like Toasty Gray N320-2 or Campfire Ash N320-1. Also, the temperature of the lightbulbs in your kitchen can be a factor in how you perceive colors; try using a cool or whiter light source to keep the yellow undertone of the cabinets down.

    Greetings,
My living room is painted taupe and it was good while it lasted

    I love the gray’s

I just bought a darker gray sectional, what color of gray should I use on my living room walls

I was thinking the Dove would be good

    What do you suggest

    I thank you in advance

    • Riley Shear says:

      Hi Tina,

Thank you for contacting Behr for color advice. Dove is one of our best-selling taupe-grays, but depending on the lighting source of the room, it can appear purple. If you like Dove and are interested in exploring other options that are similar, check out Toasty Gray N320-2 or Campfire Ash N320-1.

    Hello there,
I’m having my kitchen cabinets painted and wanted to use white on the uppers and a medium gray on the lowers. Its a small kitchen with gray toned slate floor and yellow painted walls, all trimmed out in bright white. Stainless steel appliances and dark gray/black marble counter top. Which gray and white would work best in this application?

    • Riley Shear says:

      Hi Melissa,

Given the details you have provided, here are some suggestions: Gratifying Gray DC-008, Classic Silver PPU18-11, or Downtown Gray PPU24-10. Any of these versatile gray tones would create a harmonious combination with the rest of colors you already have, but also keep in mind that different lighting conditions can influence how a color appears. Consider testing 8oz samples and evaluating them before making the final decision.

Hello! We’ve painted our living room/dining room/kitchen walls and trim Polar Bear and our kitchen cabinets Peaceful Blue. We would like to paint our doors a pure light gray for a little bit of contrast, but I’m having a hard time finding one that doesn’t clash with the cabinets but also doesn’t lean blue or violet. Can you recommend anything?

  39. JoAnne says:

Hi I am looking for a gray paint to paint my family/kitchen room that has a north facing light, I would like to have a true gray with no or very little undertones. My furniture is light grey, counter stools dark gray and kitchen cabnets white and dark hardwood floors. I recently painted my walls a touch of gray that looks light blue on the walls. I want it to look gray. Can you help me choose a gray color to use.

    • Riley Shear says:

      Hi JoAnne,

North facing rooms generally receive cooler, less direct sunlight. Therefore, you might want to consider choosing a light gray color with a subtle warm undertone. Consider choosing one of the following: Campfire Ash N320-1 or Gray Envelope DC-011 to help counterbalance the cooler light and keep the room from feeling cold and sterile.

I am repainting a small bathroom with not much natural light. The shower, toilet, and sink are a creme/beige, the vanity is a dark espresso color. I would like to know what Gray would go best with this combination. Thanks!

    • Riley Shear says:

      Hi Tricia,

Thank you for sharing a few details about the bathroom. Choosing the right color for your bathroom depends on various factors, including the undertones in the beige and espresso colors of the vanity, the amount of natural light in the space, and your personal style. Since it is a small bathroom and it features warm toned elements, consider choosing a warm gray such as BEHR’s Toasty Gray N320-2 or Campfire Ash N320-1, as this will create an open and cohesive look.

  41. PJ says:

Hi, we’re looking for an uplifting light gray (or griege?) paint for a large space, i.e. 2 story foyer, living and dining rooms, bedrooms and hallways. We plan on using ultra pure white for ceilings, trims, and base molding. We want the space to feel very large, bright, and airy, and want to avoid any blue or green undertones. Thanks for your help!

    • Riley Shear says:

      Hi PJ,

For a large open space with no blue or green undertones, consider one of BEHR’s best-selling warm grays. Campfire Ash N320-1 or Toasty Gray N320-2 are light grays with warm undertones. Their soft and subtle color can enhance the brightness of your space without feeling cold. To ensure these colors complement your floor, furniture, and overall decorating style, we recommend testing 8 oz. paint samples. Tester samples allow you to apply and test a small area on your wall to view light and ambient conditions that affect color at different times during the day. You can order samples by visiting behr.com.

Looking to paint my hallway walls grey. Need input as to what grey to use. First I used “granite boulder” and it looked green after the first coat I hated it. Keep in mind, my doors are matte black and my trim is ultra bright white semi. 2nd, I painted it “Pumice” matte and also hated it. Any suggestions with black doors and white molding?

  51. Jay Kronenberg says:

    Hello
I am readying a lower level condo which receives direct light only a few hours a day. I have chosen Gallery White for baseboards and trim, and to match new kitchen cabinets. It is a small condo, so I’d like to keep it as bright and inviting to a buyer as possible. I think Platinum PPU26-11 would provide the “openness”, brightness, and contrast against the white. Do you? Thanks!
