Garage floor terrible after 8 months

Purchased the Behr floor clear / acid etch, prepped floor degreased and painted with concrete and garage self priming and 1 part epoxy product. Everything was in the driveway per the instructions for 1 week drying time. After one winter it looks terrible, peeling everywhere.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Hi there, thank you for reviewing our paint. I’m sorry to hear that the paint has started peeling after one winter. To fix the issue, I’d recommend removing the loose coating by either power washing or sanding, then etching the bare concrete. After the floor is etched and cleaned, apply our Concrete & Masonry Bonding Primer and then re-applying the 1-Part Epoxy Concrete & Garage Floor Paint. I’ve also reached out to you via email to learn more about your project and assist you with this further. Thank you again for taking the time to share your experience with us, and I hope to hear from you soon! -Ronald

Bought this product to refresh a mechanical room and it is a game changer. It requires minimal prep, spreads easily with a pole roller, and does not smell like other epoxies. Cheap way to make a space look like new

Hello, thank you for your review. I'm sorry to hear about the issues with the color and that the coating peeled. That's not the experience we want for our customers, and I can understand your disappointment. To get your project back on track, I recommend removing the loose coating off, cleaning and etching the bare concrete until it feels like 150-grit sandpaper, and touching up. I'll reach out to you in a private email to find the best way to help. Have a great day! -Giovanna

Poor product, no coverage

I was recommended this product from a box store. I am doing a 12x13 garage floor. Smooth 2 year old pour, clean and great shape. I have applied 3 gallons and cost after coat after coat, days into a project and I still don’t have even coverage. I have used the competitions product and was done in two coats. I am beyond frustrated with the coverage and now will be the cost and waisted time. Do not use this product without a primer, if that’s a purchasable idem. Unfortunately we have another 70 mile drive to get a different product. Do not waist your money. Purchase rust-oleum.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Poor Quality Product - Does Not Perform

We bought this product along with the Behr Concrete & Masonry Primer, and Etch & Cleaner to prep and apply to our concrete slab garage floor. We stripped, scrubbed and cleaned our garage floor, and let it dry overnight. Then we applied two coats of the Primer over the course of a day allowing the Primer to dry in between the coats. Then we applied two coats of the Epoxy over the course of a day allowing the Epoxy to dry in between coats. Then just to be sure we didn't disturb the cure process, we let it cure for a week before moving anything onto the floor, then we waited an additional two more weeks before we parked our vehicles in the garage to ensure the cure was solid. Since then the epoxy has bubbled, torn, flaked, peeled and been warped after the first time it was parked on. We followed all the directions from the manufacturer, used Behr's "Required" supplemental products and even went as far as letting the product cure longer than indicated and there were still issues. If I could scrape the whole floor up and put the scrapings back in the gallon containers and return it I would, but that still wouldn't reimburse me for the other materials and time I spent in conjunction with applying this product.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Hi there, Thank you for taking the time to review our Self-Priming Concrete & Garage 1-Part Epoxy. I'm sorry to hear about the bubbling and peeling on your garage floor after parking on it. This isn't the experience we want for our customers, and I want to help. To fix this, I recommend scraping or sanding the bubbling and peeling areas to remove any loose paint. Then, spot etch any bare concrete, spot prime these areas, and touch up with leftover paint; if needed, you can also apply a full coat of paint for color uniformity. I've also reached out to you via email to get more info about your project and assist further. Thanks again for reaching out, and I hope to hear from you soon! -Christina

Not a good product

I applied this product on the floor of my kitchen. (fresh concrete left to cure for 30 days, then Behr primer, then 2 coats of this 1-part epoxy paint. The paint is always dirty,. every single piece of dirt, grime, grease makes marks. It impossible to keep the kitchen floor clean. Very disappointing. What I did is sand the whole thing, apply a new coat of primer, then 2 new coats of this paint. And in one week I have a contractor apply a 1mm coat of real pure epoxy. This will protect this paint. I do not trust the Behr sealer to provide sufficient protection in regular kitchen usage.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Hi there, thank you for reviewing our paint. I’m sorry to hear that the paint was hard to keep clean in your kitchen. I can understand your disappointment with the time and effort that goes into a project like this. Adding a sealer such as our Low-Lustre Sealer or a clear epoxy should help with the cleanability of the surface. I’ve also reached out to you via email to learn more about your project and assist you with this further. Hi there, thank you for reviewing our Concrete & Garage 1-Part Epoxy Paint. I’m sorry to hear that tire marks are showing on the surface. It could be that, for some reason, the paint needed longer to cure, and that made it more susceptible to tire marks. I'd first recommend scrubbing the coating with soap and water or a concrete cleaner/degreaser. If that doesn't work, I'd recommend Scuff sanding the surface with 80-120 grit sandpaper, removing the dust with a concrete cleaner/degreaser, and reapplying the epoxy per the label directions, I’ve also reached out to you via email to learn more about your project and assist you with this further. Poor customer service/product

Over the last few months I have epoxy my garage floors. I have had to do this twice due to the product pealing where I park my cars. Followed all the directions set by Behr and it is pealing a second time, even after 10 days of drying. My claim person sent me an email, than refused to answer any of my calls/messages.

We bought thus less then a month ago and extremely disappointed with the product. We took all the recommend steps a day bought all the recommended products, we even spent an extra week making sure garage floors were stripped and cleaned correctly and fully dried well not even 3 weeks later all paint is up where we park our car. It's extremely frustrating when you spend so much money and time amd then it is just ruined in less then a month

Great paint

We have used this paint to cover our church auditorium, hallways, and fellowship hall floors. All of the areas are high traffic, and used at least 3 times a week. About every 5 years, we add another coat over the existing paint. The only prep we have had to do is clear everything off of the floor, dust mop, and wet mop. Normally, 1 coat restores it to the orginal condition. We will not use anything else!

Yes, I recommend this product.

Great product!!! One question though…

I painted my garage floor two years and also put the flakes on top. It has been wonderful. It was easy to apply and dried perfectly. It still looks great. I have an issue which was my own doing and wonder if anyone would have an idea of a quick inexpensive fix. I spill some 91% alcohol on a section of the floor and now I have big patches of white colored floor. When I wipe with water it seems to disappear only to come back as it dries. It is a very interesting chemical reaction. It looks like milky powder. How can I solve this problem without having to sand it all and reapply paint.

Yes, I recommend this product.

DO NOT USE THIS PRODUCT FOR YOUR DRIVEWAY, etc.

We had this product professionally applied in October 2022 during good weather. Beautiful until November's cold weather. Then it started to bubble up, loosen up, blow away even with slightest wind. I can even peel it off with a thin piece of cardboard. Everyday more coating comes off. It's going to cost $$!! to have driveway and other outdoor concrete surfaces sanded and cleaned, plus $$?? to have our lawn vacuumed. Raking just makes the pieces crumble. The contractor wouldn't guarantee this application due to temperature extremes in zip 48095. We trusted him from previous experience with the interior of our home and the Behr name.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Great Product - If you follow the directions

I've used this product in two different paint job applications. It performs great if you understand the difference between the terms "dry time" and "cure time". Dry time is when you can touch the paint and it will not come off of your skin - this is usually a few hours. Yes, the paint is "dry". Cure time is the point at which the paint has fully bonded to the surface and it is ready for regular/heavy usage. This [curing period] can take weeks and in some cases months. When paint is fully cured the chemical process of bonding is complete and the paint will feel hard. Prior to this point, if you touch the paint and it feels soft/rubbery or like you are pushing on a latex balloon then it is NOT ready for heavy usage (such as driving your vehicle upon it). I know the instructions say safe to drive on after 7 days. However, I believe the reason for this is that the manufacturer knows that most people would never purchase a product if they had to wait 30 days. This is why professionals use a 2-part epoxy - because the dry time of that product is actually 7 days. This product is a 1-part epoxy - completely different. If you are going to use this product - you should know that the longer you wait for it to fully cure - the less likely you are to experience product failure. Overall, this is an excellent product - if you understand how "paints" actually perform. You should take further note that the manufacturer has stated, "Wait at least 30 days before rinsing or cleaning. Use a mild detergent as needed." This should tell you something about the product itself - that is not fully ready until at least 30 days after the final coat is applied. Err on the side of caution and be patient and wait. You'll be happy that you did. Good Luck!

Yes, I recommend this product.

Great Product!

I've used this product in several applications over the past few years. Inside the garage, the patio, a sidewalk and on concrete stairs. On some of the areas I needed to do some concrete repairs first then wanted to protect the repairs as well as achieve a uniform appearance. It worked out perfectly and has lasted through several season changes. After getting good results I ended doing the same repairs and applications for some neighbors that asked me to do theirs after seeing my results. Proper preparation and application is key as for any job.

Yes, I recommend this product.
