DO IT YOURSELF: FACE MASK HOOK SHELF

TIME

BUDGET

COMPLEXITY

Finding the right place to store your masks sparked the idea of creating a storage place for this new necessity. Here is a fun project that can help you turn an unused hook shelf into a face mask storage. This is an easy way to remember to grab your face mask before you head out the door.

Here are the steps to customize your own hook shelf .

Materials:

  • Behr color samples – For this project we went with Jojoba N390-3 and Bit of Sugar PR-W14
  • Storage mount with hooks
  • Sand paper – 80 grit
  • Paint trays
  • Paint brushes

Step 1: Remove Hardware

The first step is to remove all hardware from the shelf before you start painting. If you would like to paint the hardware the same color, there is no need to remove.

Step 2: Sanding

If your piece has a gloss finish, make sure to sand for better paint adhesion.

Step 3: Painting

Paint the shelf in the color of your choice. We used a soft green named Jojoba.

Jojoba N390-3 is a soft green that pairs well with whites.
Let the first coat fully dry before you add on the second coat.
Painting the knobs a different color can add a POP of color to this piece. I chose to paint the knobs white to complement my blinds.
Now that you have your shelf painted and mounted, you can take it a step further and customize the shelf with names.
